Long story short ....
i know that once you have selected your critter and are setting the name, color, ect that if you cancel out, you lose everything that you put into it. IT tells you in a message that all will be lost.
That being said, i was on dantooine around 2:00 am when i should have been in bed, and i was testing a new recipe idea out trying to get a nice midranged rancor with kin60 and light armor for a customer. Well, i got the DNA that i was after, and in the interest of wanting to have a mission accomplished before hitting the sack, i wipped out ole HAL, my trusty sidekick R2 droid unit thingy in the field and starting handling business. Well, here is what happened. (Disclaimer: this are close estimates, but to show a point)
Rancor
12k/10k/10k
CL 41
ar L
Kin 60
Bla 45
Acid 45
elect 40
xxx vuln
xxx 25
xxx 25
spd 1.98
dmg 340-450
tohit .66
range no
2 specials
My first thought was, ok, cool, ill take that, i got the armor, i got the hi resist, nice HAM and high resistences across the board for the most part.
Well, next thing i know, critter XXX hits me while im looking at the stats before crafting it, and bam, my droid turns off cuz of combat and i have to skidattle. Well, my first thought was crap i just lost my template and resources because the window was closed after the point of no return. Just as if you X out of it or after it says no i dont want to continue when it gives you the point of no return message.
When i was on the run, i looked and saw that the goods were still there, my template was still in tact, i know this, cuz its the only one i had on me.
So i got to the science outpost and went ahead and crafted the rancor up in an effort to keep my inventories under control and uncluttered, and when i did, this is what i got.
Rancor

spd 2.02
dmg 240-250
tohit .33

So the point of it all is that i used the same template, and resources dont matter right because it doesnt take quality into account so why would it have given me such a drastic if any at all change between the two animals. I was disappoined in this big time considering what i had and what i dropped to. Is the template manufacture random or based on something other than the stats that it has generated because i would have expected the exact same thing that i saw before i was cut off in combat or at least withing a few pts. When everything other than my Kin dropped to 1 or 0, and the dmg decreased by 100 needless to say i wasnt happy.

Well that is odd. A similar story happened to me about 6 months ago while I was crafting a template with MR in it outside Bestine cantina (don't ask why) and I was agroed and I lost everything. No mixed up dna template or anything. Beside the template you have isn't bad, just resample it with some CBD and MH and you'll have a good pet anyway.

Hm, that's odd that you walked away with the template intact. I lost mine when a similar thing happened. It almost looks like the 2nd creature came through without any experimentation or it was 'forgotten' about on the creation.

when that happens to me I generally lose what I was working on, as if I had a fail or closed out and answered yes to lose everything.
