Bio Engineer Archive
Thread: Making a new bio engineer and working on the template, could use help :)
I personally have been TKM/MBE, up until recently where I have been grinding BE on my alt to go something like MBE/MDoc (Should be interesting if I have the SPs
I have found that TK is a great profession to compliment BE as u get the Meditate tree to get rid of states/DOTs that critters may drop on you, and you can solo most things in the game. (U can prob do it with just the Power tree of TK if SPs are a prob)
I have never been sampling with a friend as they don't have the patience to wait for me to get samples, and always try to 'help' me when I get aggro
Never really got into using a droid, but look at it like professions... you don't want a combat profession that is good at killing, you want one that is good at tanking as, if u kill the critter, you are losing possible samples. Just jump on a speeder and lose aggro...
I feel that if u have BE and Explo IV then you can have any other profession you want the SPs for. Just make sure u have some good comp and buffs.
Master Bioengineer
Master TK (im still working on - currently 3343 which is more than enoug for a BE)
Scout: Exploration 1-4 (mask scent)
Creature Handler: x111 (taming)
This will be my template at the end of the week when i max out my pts. My Bio character is my favorite, and the sad thing, is the best fighter lol.
The main point i would make about this template is that:
1- i dont have any ranger or master scout bonuses, but i can sample anything 70 or lower that i wish to. It takes a little effort on the Mutants, but i get about 8-9 mutant rancor dna's per trip to the rancor cave (approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hrs). I wear composite armor with an undershirt with +13 ms / +13 camo, and i wear a +13 ms / +13 camo pants. I think this is overkill because i believe +25 is the max ms you can get off clothing. I also use java beer thanks to the master artisans in my guild, as well as those handy aroma packs that are not in the game via the loot system. BTW, i hand them their arses when they attack w/o blinking an eye w/o my red bar barely moving if even at that.
2- with this template, there is no room to put 15 xpts into artisan for my floral tool survey device, so i have to use an alt character to located my flora, as well as keep an eye on swgcraft.com to know when and the general area to go look for it.
3- i can tame any critters on the spot for sales, with the exception of the fact that I cannot tame a mount. Not as big of a deal since most want cool tanks for show and tell or gameplay.
4- with the CH there, i can use light armor pets myself.
- Buffs
- Armor
- A level 10 or 12 bio-engineered Bantha (mine is around 9K HAM with 52% kinetic resists and some decent special attacks)
- Food/Chemical crafting tool (or two)
- Credits for travel (unless you have JTL)
- At least some combat skills (preferably ranged, I'm currently 0001 rifleman)
- About 2k units of grind quality flora (I'm currently using the leftover grind-quality wild wheat from grinding ABEC's)
- Some goodpet stims (I'm currently using some 408 power A's, but will be moving up to B's and C's as my crafting abilities progress)
- Go hunting and harvest the meat off of everything you can kill to grind up the scout trees and enough scout XP for novice CH. Save the meat. It doesn't have to be uber quality. You will need it to craft creatures.
- Train Novice CH and grind out the med crafting to train Novice BE
- Have a Master Creature Handler train your bantha for you. Even if it's not full grown yet, go ahead and train it up. If it is full grown be sure it's trained as a mount too. This can save you some time while you're running around collecting samples.
- Travel to an area commensurate with your DNA sampling abilities. I started with butterflies and gubbers outside Coronet and worked my way up to Endor/Dathomir/Yavin.
- Mask scent
- Tell your bantha to guard you and go start sampling DNA
- Sample anything and everythingyou can find (DNA XP)
- Milk any and all female creatures you can milk. You will need milk to craft the following items:
- Multisaccharide Dimate (20 Units)
- Passive Tranquilizers (25 Units)
- Multisaccharide Tetramate (30 Units)
- Multisaccharide Pentamate (40 Units)
- Active Tranquilizers (25 Units)
- Search every lair you come across for eggs. You will need eggs to craft Enhanced Myoflex Treatment (15 Units).
- When you draw aggro the bantha will tank for you while you step back and spam specials. This will get you CH XP and keep you somewhat out of harm's way (provided your bantha doesn't get incapped). Be sure to harvest the meat off of any creature you end up having to kill.
- When you get enough DNA samples (or when your inventory starts to get full), craft a Generic DNA template and save it for later use
- When you get some free time in a safe place, use the meat and flora to craft a creature (I usually craft durnis and gnorts)
- Tame and train the creatures you craft for CH XP and then give them to friends as pets or release them into the wild
- As you move up in sampling skill, your crafted creatures will probably be above your CH skill level. If this is the case, simply click on them in your inventory and select "Sample DNA" directly from the radial menu (DNA XP). Use the new DNA samples to craft another creature and it should be a lower level (something you can handle).
- Takea break every once in a while and go fishing. It's relaxing and fun. You also need to filet the fish you catch and save the meat for crafting BE Pet Stim D's.
Now that I've been doing this off and on for a while (a week or two I think), I have the first couple of CH boxes as well as DNA III. In addition, I have accrued enough BE crafting XP for the first Tissues box. While this method is certainly not the fastest way to master both, it has been fun and rewarding. I've been travelling all over the galaxy sampling DNA. This has opened my eyes to how large the galaxy truly is and how much there is out there thatI haven't seen. In addition, I've been giving pets to my friends (nothing combat-worthy, just something to carry around as a companion). I've also given away some of the higher level pets to creature handlers who are starting their professions. In one case, I gave a backpack full of gnorts to a guildie so he could tame/train/release some CH XP.
So there you have it... the [somewhat] fun way to grind BE/CH.

It's nice to be able to damage everything around you fast...I was a creature handler/rifleman/bioengineer but that combo just did not work for me. If you can wait until phase 4, grinding CH is a piece of cake. If you send your creature to attack the thugs, then pull it back you get 2-2.5k ch xp per thug and I think about 1.5k xp per pirate or outlaw. I was zooming through CH before I ran out of skill points and decided to drop it.Overall though, I suggest a melee or pistol combat skill since usually you will be standing right next to a creature when it decided it doesn't like you poking it with a needle. Also you wont need master scout if you get yourself some mask scent clothing. Exploration 4 should be just fine.
A guildy of mine lvled CH/pistoleer in the geo caves...

You should have 18 SP left
