I got asked to make a non ch tank pet with the squall skin tonight.. I used the 2nd gen recipe I always use but it always eneded up lvl 12 or higher. So I made a different pet and got it at lvl 10 with the same DNA.. now after making 3 squalls I think that either this skin is bugged or the ingo on the FAQ is wrong. The FAQ says that squall is lvl 2.. any ideas?

Thats the MINIMUM CL - that is, even the crappiest Squall will always be CL2. The CL is determined by an arcane combination of the stats of your animal, the experimentation you used, and the CL of the DNA that was used to make the template, its not very well understood by anyone (including the dev team probably heh).
If you got a different CL using the same DNA, its probably because you used a point less experimentation on the CL10 result, or experimented in areas that didnt raise the CL as much, like psychology. There's also anecdotal evidence that raising psych and/or having uneven HAM bars will lower the CL (I can vouch that I lowered the CL 2 points by experimenting on only physique and psych on one recipe, compared to no experimentation at all)

needless to say this pet should have been lvl 10, infact all 3 cos I made 3 of them to make sure I was not losing my mind. I have made 3 more using different skins and they all lvl 10.. including the 15 or so I have made using the same recipe. Its a bug it has to be, its nothing I have done wrong or different.

Squalls are definitely not bugged, anyone who was at the BE event last month can attest to that
I can't vouch for Nancy's formulas thatshe lists there because I don't use those particular ones, but I know that there are bound to be differences between one batch and the next, and that sometimes those differences do affect the CL.
The stats on animals in the wild vary a *lot*. Two samples of voritor dasher may show 20% difference in HAM stats for example, and that can have an affect on CL. The other thing of course is experimentation. My guess is that either the formula you are using isn't as reliable as some, or that you just happend to get some extra-pumped up voritors that particular time.

I didnt use voritors
But needless to say I have made about 20 or so of these pets and all have been lvl 10.. and the 3 I made in a row just now with that same skin all were lvl 12.. something is not quite right. I will give you my recipe in pm if you like and you can try it with a normal lvl 10 skin and then try it with the squall skin.

Ok, I'm willing to do that. Just post or PM me the formula and I'll give it a shot.

infact I have enough DNA from the same batch to make one more pet.. I made the 3 squalls.. then a hermit spider and a Gnort. The spider and gnort turned out right.. I could try make another squall and see if it goes over 10 again.

Ok, my bad. I should have asked up front what sort of recipe you were talking about. When you referenced the FAQ I assumed that you were refering to one of the simple non-ch pet recipes posted by Nancy that is referenced there. But you are in fact referencing one of the highly controversial multi-gen merek-harvester-based "uber" recipes.
/sigh
Well, you are welcome to /bug it. But for me, such a thing is not worth worrying about whether it consistently results in a CL 10 or notbecause of the obvious much larger bug involved in such a crafting project.

Hehe fair enough, but at least others will know not to
And its not as uber as some of the pets I have seen for non ch haha
I am going to give in on crafting them tbh for the above mentioned and also because they are so much work to make.
