The damage output is due to the BE pets having increased attack speed. I posted some numbers somewhere and it seems to be a 2 to 1 ratio in BE pet attacks versus wild. This is only true in post pub 17 crafted pets.

Yep, let's hope it stays this way.

Ran a test last night. My DL 69 GSH versus my BE made DL69 Cu-Pa, both up against a DL 65 Boar Wolf. Cu-Pawins hands down.
The Cu-Pa took a total of 2100 hp of damage, the GSH took 3800. The Cu-Pa did 384 points of damage, per round, the GSH did 198.
Both took the same amount of damage, per hit, from the boar (141); but the cu-pa ended the fight sooner, thereby taking less damage itself. The fumy thing is that the Cu-Pa is listed as doing 396 max damage and the GSH is listed at 401.
Other than the out of combat health regen, which I'm sad to say is apparently 10 times faster for a wild mob, the BE pet performed better all around.
It's nice to know my mount is tougher than a GSH
