hey i just bought these two BE pets, a durni and a kimo, both have special attacks.
Durni has stunning strike and medium disease, Kimo has knockdown and medium disease, yet when i tell them to perform these, nothing happens, they just do normal attacks. They are still babies right now, do i have to wait until they are old for them to perform these attacks? are my pets bugged? are they ever gonna work? i paid a lot for them, so if they dont work i will be pissed.... thanks for any info...

Okay, first of all, wait till they are at least half way grown. Most BE's agree it takes some time before special gets availible on new pets. And you will first enjoy full special use when they are fully grown.

Second, there seems to be some kind of bug concerning creatures special attack, so that they won't use them when they are IN COMBAT, but there is a work around. I guess that your pets have the apropriate commands to you to call for their special atatcks, so I won't go in to that. Here's the solution, make a macro like this one:

/tellpet (your command for follow target here);
/tellpet (your command for your special attack here);

This will make the pet sieze comabt and iniate comabt again useing a special, remeber to make a makro for each of your specials. The pet will only try it's special once, and then continue combat as normally. You can see that it uses it's combat, by the message flashing over it's head, showing you the kind of special the pet tries to perform.

Remeber also, that specials don't always stick to the target, so you may have to use the command a couple of times before you see an effect.

Hopes this helps you on your way to glory.

One last thing, don't buy and use bugged BE pets (pets that are abnormaly strong for a CL 10 or under), it's an exploit of a bug done by corrput BE's.

BTW BE pets and wild pets work exactly the same. Here is what I have exerienced and what works best for me. Pets dont start to use their specials often until they mature. My full grown razor cats will poison in every fight they are in now, but would not do so when they were young.

Also try this when getting your pet to attack:

/follow target

/special attack(1-2)

I have found that my pets try to do their specials alot more when ordered to do so in this manner. I have not seen them react to a command for specials while in a fight. It sems they like to start the fight with the commanded special but will also use the special (on their own) during the fight. I have found that they will often hit with a special on their own if i enrage or embolden them. I can call them back from the fight for a short moment then reengage them with the same sequence above and they try their specials again. It should be noted that the specials dont hit all the time, but you can see the pet trying the special as it floats over their names during the attempted attack.

The 'do special attack X' command is currently bugged/broken, so if your pet has the specials and you're wondering why they won't do them on command ... there you go.
If they have them and you're never ever seeing them happen when the pet feels like it, and the pet is full grown, you may have a different problem.

And what problem would that be?

Using a follow or follow other command just before the special attack command works for me, but it seems that the more powerful special attacks like knockdown, poison, disease, etc. cannot be commanded. Make a "/tellpet follow;/tellpet special1" macro and try it out with the durni, and I bet it will work. However, I doubt that the others will work... And really, wouldn't being able to poison, disease, or knockdown on command, with no HAM cost to yourself be a little overpowered?

why should it cost player ham? It should cost the Pets HAM. And yes they can lose it like anything else and have to pay attention to it.
