Thread: See the Forest through the trees
I am getting so sick and tired of hearing players complain when changes are made to the system. Even though it was well known longbefore the big CH patch was implemented a ton of CH's complained they could no longer sell combat pets to Non-CH's. I fully supported this change even though it hurt me. I was a Rifleman who used my Rock Bettle as a Tank. When they patch was put in place I still felt my pet was important so I dropped Master Ranger and started up with CH.
The purpose of the patch was very very simple. The Devs did not want non-ch's to have combat pets.
I was very happy whenthe BE's got the ability to make great pets, even if the pets were better than I could now find in the wild. If I felt lazy and wanted a quick pet I could just buy one. It only makes sense that a bio-engineered pets should be a little better than a wild pet, otherwise why would it be made in the first place.
Now i see a ton of BE's doing the same thing the CH's were doing, complaining they can no longer sell combat pets to non-ch's.
Everyone needs to see the big picture here. Stop looking at just how these changes affect you personally and look at the big picture. See the forest, not just the trees.
Pets were much to powerful for the amount of skill points used. I am about half-way through CH now and I am happy to spend the skill points on getting a decent pet. But do I want to see a non CH using a pet better than I can handle? Of course not. Anyone with a little common sense should see this as being a problem.
Are there still problems?, a lack of documentation? YES, but the devs are doing a good job working toward making every profession work within the system.
Just wait,in a couple months when Combat Droids have been way to powerful and imbalance the game in un-forseen waysand they get patched you will see all the DE's start complaining

I think you've missed the point behind the outrage that the BE community (and their clients - which is everyone, Non CH and CH alike) are feeling after the panicd hotfix performed by the Devs in response to the overpowered non CH pets. Most, if not all, BE's understand and agree with the need to 'fix' the ability to create overpowered non CH pets in the cloning system, that is not the issue here. TheREAL issue and subsequent outrage is directed at the paniced hotfix that was performed without warning from the Devs and the HUGE problems it has created for all BE's and their client base.
The vast majority of BE's used the cloning system that was provided for us in the belief that the clones we were able to make, using supposed legit DNA samples (bugged Nocuous Kamarrith DNA not included), would create legit results, you yourself stated, 'It only makes sense that a bio-engineered pets should be a little better than a wild pet, otherwise why would it be made in the first place.'.
The non BE community responded to these cloning results with overwelming enthusiasm. Asa result THOUSANDS of sales were made not only by the CH community but also those players who would normally not have bothered with a pet of any kind in the past, putting their trust in the BE's they contracted to make these clones. I would like to remind you here that the BE's I am refering to had no knowledge or intention of creating clones that would finally be tagged 'illegal' and rendered uncallable. These BE's believed that they were doing the best for their clients and worked HARD to keep up with the demand created by the non BE community.
Now put yourself in the shoes of one of these BE's , you believe you have worked within the cloning system that has been provided for you and you have formed new friendships and trusts with many players you would normally have had no relationship with outside of pickup groups. Then ... WHAM... all the low level clones that you have proudly crafted, with many hours of your blood, sweat and tears, have been completely incarcerated, leading to the accussatory complaints and mostly unspoken loss of trust from all those players that you have worked hard to win over.
I may not have a degree in Human Psycology, but I do understand enough about the human condition to know that the now'once bitten, twice shy' players that you have so lovingly created relationships with are no longer likely to ever deal in your merchandise again.
You might think that is matters not (hell, you can always find new players to sell your clones to), but I (and I'm sure the majority of BE's also) take my reputation as a Master Crafter seriously and I'll even go as far as to say that i care about the welfare of my clients and their trust me.
It is my observation that BE's on all servers have a right to voice their case regarding this in-game public relations disaster (for that is what it is) and are in no way guilty of '...complaining they can no longer sell combat pets to non-ch's.'
I hope this has enlightened you regarding our (BE's) viewpoint and hopefully help you to be more sympathetic to the problems that we now face.
that is fine but tell me why my CL23 pet and 35 pet are in that same place? it not just them pets we suspected would be bad. Even my 4k ham cl 10 is bonked but I figured that happen. It more about they fixed clone line. Messed it up big time. They rushed in a hop fix to live and messed things up worse. They pulled it out and rushed hot fix code this time to one live server. Then they going to place this fix the fix code in rest today. As I understand one weak before this patch went to live (the clone line) on test they couldn't even make pets. Yes I know they can't have enough people to do what we did but we still found this out on uber pets in like 2 days but again alot more BE to do it. I destroyed 20 some pets last night since no clue if they will even work. Will just make more under whatever the new rules are.
Just think, the DE are do there loving this and next mounth. Wait to see how they make out with them since they the closest thing in game to a BE and have ben just as bad with loving and bugs.
Truthfully?
I am very sick of a system not working for months... while I pay... only to have it temporarily and partially fixed to get nerfed a few days later with no FRIGGIN FIX. The new system is hit and miss... In my opinion it sucks. And yes, I have tested and figured stuff out so please dont even bother with the "Your intellect is too small for this profession" crap.
In my opinion, the policies for this game pretty much suck and since I have seen what jedi are all about (They suck twice as bad) there is really nothing to look forward to. Guess I am onto bigger and better things, maybe I will come back in 18 months when things are a little better.
PS- I woud hang in there as long as possible. SOE are big marketers (Why do you think everyone got 2 holos on christmas... THEY WANTED TO KEEP YOU GRINDING!) so when things start to really fall off bad... Everyone will get a direct line to a FS slot or they will have a jedi expansion... Mark my words!
Please, by all means... show me the forest.
All I see right now are a bunch of dead, shrivled trees of a once beautiful, lush, green forest.
