Thread: Is this a good Template? If not why?
I'm starting a new Character that is going to be a wookie Master BE/CH (I like both professions and playing around with creatures) My question is can this template work:
Master CH/BE/Medic Scout 4-0-4-0
Will master medic be that useful to me? My main focus is going to betraining babies and making clones. I'm not in this for the credits ethier I can't stand the thought of some slob hutting my babies.
tha will help me find animals sample DNA masksent alot /with some wookie +15 masksent /cammo sholderpad ( need to keep a backpack for more stoage ) and also play with the animals i make .
it really leave me no points for fighting but hey , i can have a bit of fun lol in CH/BE
i also got me 5 droids with 10 inv spaces so i can carry about 210 inv items , 1 droid with a med 110% and a crafting station , so im a 1 man animal making machien lol
I just started this template so ill let you know how it workds in a few months lol
I'm a Wookiee,a Master Scout/BE/CH, and 0-0-3-0 Ranger. Wouldn't change a thing. Yes, Master Scout is needed for the Mask Scent. And, the Ranger skills are extremely useful finding creatures for sampling. I get both direction and distance to creatures in the vicinity.
For me, Master CH is much less for taming than for having a CL 50-70 pet guarding me while I sample. When I get aggrod while sampling, I run, and the pet takes the aggro. I rarely need Burst Run and don't bother jumping into a vehicle. When I get about 70m away I start spamming my 'Pet Follow Me' macroas I continue to runso he doesn't either kill the creature, get killed,or get so banged up I have to use several stimpacks to heal him. When the creature stops chasing my pet,I go back and start sampling again.
There are certainly alternatives to MCH, but Master Scout and the Ranger skills are essential.
My personal build is MCH/MBE, scout 4-0-4-0 and several boxes in some-ranged-weapon (varies month by month). I never have a pet out while sampling, just wear armor and run for it and even mutant rancors reduced to tricky rather than mass fatalities. I don't have an issue with mask scent, even on MRs, I just wear +25 clothing and get on with it. There is a nack for getting close to MRs but anything lower than that is pretty easy (for MR, don't mask until you get within 60m or so and you will invariably then be able to close without a problem - just watch out for breaking the 64m barrier on other rancors close by).
Ranger tracking would be useful at times but much of that can be compensated for by experience and knowledge of planets and specific areas to find certain creatures. I find some good weapon skills help in both general hunting (almost positive the republic blaster will be given a proper cert position in the pistoleer or marksman tree in the not-too distant future, so don't rely on that being around forever). Also, ability to use a weapon with a degree of com[etence gives me something else to contribute when I am called in for base raids in PvP (I won't use pets in PvP).
I went MBE/MCH/Pistol 0/0/4/0
I can do everythingthat I need tofor MBE/MCH (MS, Heal, etc) and I can save a ton of money in getting my own meat rather than buying it. Pistol actually gets some very nice defence mods as well which helps when things aggro.
Master scout has the added bonuse of being able to see more information on the creature than a 4/0/4/0 Scout. Master Scout can see CLand special attacks (I believe). For people that like sampling 'everything that looks good'.
Master Medic is only beneficial if you plan on healing your pets ALOT in combat, or want to reduce downtime between fights.
I feel you're better served getting a few boxes into a ranged weapon because you can help end the fight faster with 2 bleeds andspecials, sparing your pets wounds and damage. You can get MCH/MBE/Master Ranged, ora better combination BE oriented combinationof MCH/MBE/Master scout/4-8 boxes of an Elite ranged profession.
MCH/MBE/Master Ranger - If you don't want to be detectedand wanna find specific DNA (lower time invested in getting specific DNA for your best selling pet templates)
Another template for people that aren't into the whole MCH/MBE thing (just wanna make the pets, don't wanna drag 'em around).
MBE/TKM. TKA is the best profession to deal with pesky critters because of the one hit KD, high melee defenses, powerboost, and meditative bleed/poison/disease/wound healing. If you're trying to get away knocking down the creature gives you a good headstart to get away without using burstrun. And inevitably, you're gonna get hit with the common strong poison/disease from something you're trying to sample, so being able to heal that up in the field is a great time (and skill point) saver. You would need Skill boxes in doctor to heal your own disease/poison, and a TKA can deal alot more damage than a Master Doc ![]()
Thanks for the sugestions, I think I'm going to go Master BE/CH/Scout Ranger 0-0-3-0 Medic 0-0-0-4. I'm more interested in finding samples and screwin around with creatures with this charcter and medic is not really all that useful now that I think about it.
Thanks for the help, I'll be vistingthese boards more.
Fellstaff, I'm currently workingo n that exact template on valcyn. Right now I'm sitting at TKA 1/1/1/1 BE 0/2/1/0 but I'm workingon it. Both these classes are a lot of fun. Similarly amusing is Swordsman. My wife just picked up novice today and is doing silly amounts of damage (even sillier than I do in TKA) with her Power Hammer
