Thread: Why do mobs die when I get a DNA sample ( logical question )

DNA can be found in every part of your body.

A hair, a piece of your fingernail, a drop of your saliva, eyelashes ... anywhere.

So after seeing many mobs, even glowing red mobs with 10k+ HAM drop dead after a DNA sample I have to ask myself WHY ?

Why would such a big mob drop dead after losing 1 hair, some drool, or in the worst case from me scratching it for some blood ?

I mean Im not tearing out its heart for a simple DNA Sample - I need less than 1 gramm material *laughs.

Is there a deeper meaning in this ? Possibly from the Devs ?

Just something Id like to understand.

Anyone got an idea ?

Actually my laugh at this is:

I dropped a Pet Vita pack on the ground in my house and saw that, "Oh my GOD! That's a 4ft friggin' needle!"

So my congecture(sp) is that we run around with a Telescoping 6ft Needle to Draw blood with.

As you gain Knowledge of where to place the needle you get more samples and better Quality, but as you first start your trying to hard and are poking your needle into the mobs Head.

That explains:

No Sample Failure - you haven't learned to hold it properly and completely missed the Creature, or if your a master, your hands a sweaty as you stalk a CL75 and you lost your grib on the Extraction needle.

No Sample Agro - you missed the insertion and scratched the mob making it upset.

No Sample Death - in your ignorance but not wanting to ask someone, you poke the creatures in the eye to get to the brain for a sample but get no sample because you bent the needle.

Sample Success - you found a non-vital area to draw from, leg-arm-butt.

Sample Success Agro - you cough as your pulling out the needle and repoke the mob... and it's upset.

Sample Success Death - *see "no Sample Death" * - insert into the Brain-Heart-Spine for a sample but you don't bend the needle upon withdrawl.

All animals in the game are actually blowup sex dolls, thus when you stick a needle into them they go pop.

Have you ever dropped a DNA sample in your house? It's huge. It'slittle wonder that we wind up killing the donors.

All kidding aside. Its simply a game play issue. If the mob didnt die you could get as much DNA from it that you wanted. The most that would ever happen is that it might kill and db you, not that much of an issue if your stuff is insured.

It is really just to keep us from having sampling the same doner infinatly.

It's easy enough to justify in "roleplaying" terms.

Star Wars Universe DNA samples involve the programming of nanobots to infiltrate the target's blood stream and internally inspect not only the creature's DNA, but it's current brainwave patterns. The initial "animation" when sampling is your character inserting nanobots into the target. The "finishing animation" is you retrieving the now hopefully information-filled bots.

A sampling death means you misprogrammed the bots for this specific creature and they accidentally destroyed its nervous system

I like the mask scent tissues when dropped, kinda like the hair spray bottle that would go with the hair dryer in Space Balls.

I would really like to be able to harvest from creatures that I killded by sampling. That would make my life a lot easier. And make my bank account much larger, as I wind up buying most of the meat I need. I am mastering BE before finishing mastering CH, so I'm not much in the way of combat skill....

as a novice you have bad Aceptic technique. I would assume you are contaminating the critter you are sampling with some thing nasty. SW is a dirty place biologically.

As you in crease in rank your technique gets beter, but chances are you are using the same needle for the same critter so its going to get contaminated after a while.

Stuff that dies on the first stick is probably due to a bad needle, you should complain to the QA part of your needle supplyer,
