I thought I'd mention for discussion an auction I just looked at (Chimeara Trade forum)

These are for Bio Engineer enhanced clothes, all except the Sunguard have 4 sockets. I'm listing the current highestbids

LOT1: Sunguard, Black, +25 Injury Treatment, +25 Wound Treatment - 110K

LOT2: Formfitting undershirt, Black, +16 Bleeding Defence - no bids

LOT3: Formfitting undershirt, Black, Melee Defence +4, Defence vs Stun +17 - 110k

LOT4: Formfitting undershirt, Black, Warcry +15, Intimidation +15 - 250k

LOT5: Formfitting Undershirt, Mask Scent +13, Camouflage +13 - 20k

LOT6: Flex-form shirt, taming vicious animals +14, taming wild animals +14 - 150k

LOT7: Mercenary bandolier, melee defence +4,defence vs stun +17 - 150k

Interesting eh?

It suggests to me that most players don't know that Bio Engineers can make skill tapes and usuallydo so at a rather modest cost

Well, first, that stuff is way over priced. On Naritus, most of that stuff will run 15-20k each. Something really good might run up to about 50k, but thats unusual.

And sorry to burst your bubble, but BE can not make skill tapes just a tissue that a Tailor can use when they make clothes. Skill tapes are a found item or looted, not made.

thats crazy, i sell all single tissue clothing at 12k on naritus, and multiple tissue clothing range from 20-30k depending on the item.

Well we can see all this highprices since players get richer and richer, not muchcredits that actually "leave" the server they just move over to other chars. And there is acutally no problem in buying this stuff at these prices when you have your pants filled with credits that you dont know what to do with.

They're not overpriced at all. It's called an auction, therefore no price was placed on the items. Any item is only worth what someone will pay for it... Simple economics.

If you don't like your credit situation then maybe you otta take a profession that makes money like Doctor or Armorsmith.

Poor sod.... I made a pair of tissues for myself on patch day and got me a nice pair of +24 taming pants (hehe I love that, taming pants.....)

Sold the tailor a small crate of the tissues at like, what, 100 creds per points (so that's like 2400 for the tissues in my pants).

Oh well, I was never good at this markerting thing.... although if people are willing to pay that much for the clothes (I really don't think the material to make a shirt cost 100K), what should we be pricing the tissues at again?

As a tailor, the only tissues for ch i ever saw (pre patch) were ones that people brought to me and paid outrageous sums for. After the patch I found some +12 on the bazaar for 6k, so i made them into Hot pants. (sorry, I'm EVIL.) I started an auction for them at 12k, and the first bid was 50k. I think most people don't know that these tissues aren't as rare now. (If they hadn't been hotpants, I think they might have broken 100k for their final price. )

All my other tissues I charge about 3k per tissue, which i think is pretty high, but is really low on my server. I used to charge less, but it became impossible for a while to find a non-hologrinding BE to keep my stock up. Eventually I just started carrying around the tissues with me, and not putting them on the vendors. If you were to put more of these tissues in the open market, people might realize they aren't worth outrageous sums of money, or maybe you could work out a percentage deal with a tailor.

There's some useful information in this auction. Folks are most interested in warcry/intimidation. After that they're interested in taming and melee/stun defense. After that, injury/wound healing. After that, mask scent/camo. Nobody's particularly interested in bleed defense, and there's no mention of entertainer wound healing or cover bonuses.

This stuff is selling in auction for a lot higher than I'm pricing them on my vendor. That sunguard would be a 25K item on my vendor. The warcry undershirt would only be 15K. I'm obviously undercharging.

Brista, yes, that is interesting. It's kinda like ebay, you can always go to ebay and sell a year old computer to some idiot at more than the new price for a better one, lol. Just the nature of auctions I guess. The drawback from a crafter's standoint though is that you spread a lot of ill will by doing something like this, and that becomes your rep. Personally I'd much rather charge 20k for one of those items to a repeat customer, then auction them off for 10x that amount.

But I think on a more fundmental level, it also shows that there is a big disparity between the sort of expense/effort needed to make these things, and sort of the "what the market will pay" point of view. I think most tailors and BE's price more on expense/effort, rather than the other, and that leads to a huge disparity between them and those that do it the other way.

One thing though is that if you are a BE and pricing your tissues in the typical 50k-100k/crate price range based on costs and effort and then your tailor customer (or chef customer as in my case, grrr) turns around and does something like this it just makes you feel used. I can only hope that whoever suppies such a person with tissues cuts him off.

I stick to the best solution - I only make tissues for me
I took BE to make tissues for my tailor - ofcourse I had so much fun with pets that tissues was the last line I skilled up hehe.

And no matter how many times anitalia bumps her thread she's not getting any tissues from me mwhahahaha

I have an alt whose working on tailor and while he was grinding I was selling on the bazaar for 250 cred per bonus point plus one for the materials. They sold steadily and allowed me to actually *use* the tissues my main was grinding for BE. Now that he's got Tissues 3 and can make some of the better stuff I may raise that a little but not above the 1k per bonus point level.

I suspect, having bid on tapes on a number of auctions and lost, that fully half of the thing with auctions is winning rather than really what's being sold.
