Thread: Shellfish Harvesting: Results
Monday evening, I logged in and started harvesting the wonderful Naboo mollusks currently available on Kettemoor (900+ F, 800+ OQ & PE). I put as much of my inventory as possible into my backpack, and returned to my computer every 20 minutes or so to stack the mollusks (since they don't auto-stack).
Eventually I went to bed, an which point the mollusks stopped accumulating due to their filling my inventory (around 1:00 AM). Three hours later (4:00 AM), the servers went down for the night.
8:00 AM Tuesday morning, I logged back in and continued my harvesting of mollusks. I stopped around 7:00 PM, when I finally acquired enough mollusks to craft 200 Mimetic Circuitry tissues.
Taking the server reboot into account, and several hours asleep and unable to stack the mollusks, I estimate 17 hours of actual harvesting. Here's what I manged to collect in that 17 hours...
2,222 crustaceans and 3,165 mollusks.
Mollusk harvesting is tedious. As mentioned, they don't auto-stack. I imagine this is intentional, so that people can't just AFK harvest mollusks for days on end. I had to return to the keyboard every 20 mins or so to stack what I'd collected.
Further, half the time you survey there's nothing there. The other half of the time, 2/5ths of your harvest are crustaceans while the rest are mollusks. The yield is anywhere from 2-5 shellfish per successful harvest.
Note that I was using a 97% tool crafted by my brother. However I'd also done a bunch of testing earlier, using 0% tool (using crap materials and no experimentation) and saw no difference in the yields. So I have no clue as to whether experimentation on these things is actually significant.
So over 17 hours, I saw a draw of about 186 units of mollusks per hour.
Thought people might be interested in seeing what sort of draw you can get from these things...
Hmm. Didn't occur to me to check the fishing stars. You collected about the same amount in 7 hours less than I did, so perhaps it is a factor. I'll have to return to that same spot and see that the fishing pole says.
Yeah, being able to do another things is nice. Lairs kept spawning around me, which I kept pinging with my Scout Blaster. (I hate spiders.) ![]()
Oddly, not once in that entire 17 hours did I see a probe droid. I'd have figured at least one would have wandered by and hassled me, considering all five of my pistols are sliced... ![]()
