Thread: BE pet stat question
What combinations are considered good as well.
Such as:
10K HAM with light armor at least 45% kinetic and/or energy with 450 damage.
The reason I ask is that I'm trying to make balanced creatures. I'm getting good with armor and resists, but damage seems to be low. Especially if I'm making 2nd or 3rd gen pets.

For example, a CL 24 Greater Sludge Panther was (pre-"adjustment") 8K health, high kinetic resist, no armor. A CL 23 Grand Wrix was 6500 health with light armor.
That being the case, I consider an 8K/7k/5500 HAM cat with AR1, or a 10/9/7k with >50% Kinetic a good solid pet for the same range.
High Damage is a tradeoff, as are specials and a full resist profile (no vulnerabilities) or high energy/heat/acid/elect resists for a PvP creature in the range of CL 22-24. I shoot for about 12 x CL for damage, so a CL 24 should do at least 280 or so, minimum of 240, but highs in the 340-360 range are good targets, keeping in mind the tradeoffs that high damage requires.
Picking something in the similar range for CL that is well thought of as a pet is always a good place to start, and makes it pretty understandable. Remember that the posts on the board here are more likely to be someone's Best efforts rather than their average ones, so don't get too discouraged, just work on building your skills and understanding.
BTW, the math is a major pain, but it does help. Look for the formulas people have managed to back-engineer (like the resist formula of 40% first slot, 25% second and fifth slot, 5% third and fourth slot) and you will have a better idea if a piece of Surefoot Brackaset DNA will improve the resists for Kinetic and Energy more by putting it in slot 2 than in slot 4.
I actually built a mini-spreadsheet, and when I am trying for a specific combination, I DO take the time to enter the stats into it, for each column, and see what the combine and maxed results will be for each stat. The only "absolutes" you can figure from that really is whether or not you can get armor and the resist profile, but it does give an indication.
There is a LOT to read here and to learn, and a number of great players have contributed to that knowledge, but if you do not take it and apply it yourself, it will mean very little to your success or failure.
I posted a "New Cats at BadgerSett Emporium" advertising message on the Chilastra trade forum today, with the stats of two fairly high level cats I placed on the vendor late last night. If you wish, take a look; they are what I consider quite decent pets, from both a BE and CH perspective (I am a master CH on one server, and Master BE on another). They are not the best possible creature, but they are something I feel is quite reasonable to sell.
Good Luck - BE has to be the most difficult of professions, but it has the most room for unique achievement. Remember that patience is a virtue beyond price and if you find some for sale, send me a WP.

Usually the main tradeoffs that you make as a BE are damage (including damage, attack speed, to-hit) vs ham and resists. The main reason to do 2nd or 3rd gen pets is to keep the resists while crippling all the offensive stats to make a tank. If you want a "balanced" pet (and to me that means a sort of equal blend between offensive and defensive capabilities at a given CL, and an equal blend between defending against NPCs and critters), or a pet tuned for offense at the expensive of defense, I'd recommend always doing it 1st generation. No real reason to do more generations unless you screw up on CL, or want to blend specials, or something like that because in general the damage is going to decrease with each generation you do.
My advice :
If you want full control of specials dont do generations on agreasive or anything, usualy, if you have both Phys and mental with the same sample with specials, youll do fine.
Now you can do genreations till you get your mental and phys samples with specials.
To get thedam, just get a VERY high end pet for your agreasive slot, rember, agreasive controls about 20% of resistance.
