Thread: Pricing Scheme for tissues and Additives?
It's not a flame war at all, it's a really interesting discussion, although one in which people are disagreeing with each other
I think a flame war is when people stop listening to each other
I think here we are sharing viewpoints and we are learning a bit more about how each other thinks (I'm in both camps as Chef/BE)
I do think that when the dust settles the winners will be the people who keep their tempers, who are a delight to deal with, and who show consideration for the person with whom they are doing business
Ultimately BEs facilitate Chefs in making their best product and a chef who takes advantage (and yes, sorry, 3 bottles of Brandy for a licence to print Bio Nutrients is taking advantage) will have made a very short term gain
And a chef is the friend of every class in the game - any BEs here who don't want Mask Scent buffs, burst run buffs and - for those still levelling - exp buffs as we work on our DNA Sampling ?

What is a reasonable price for Petstim's, Tissues and additives (that was the topic, right?).
What do chefs nad tailors need?
I need to know this, so I know what I can offer for meat, bones etc.
BTW: I sold a light and a medium nutr. schematic to a chef for 3 vasarian brandies (not crates), is that reasonable??
Thanks
not knowing what tailors are selling, I can't comment on those tissues...but as for chef tissues...
well theres pretty much just 1...broad spectrum nutrients.
the resource requirements are high...but they aren't impossible to fill for regular runs of 1000...just really hard...but not impossible.
the filling tissues...well the "bang for your buck" factor is probably the lowest of all the tissues types...and the resources are the hardest to get.
the flavor ones require milk...and although its easier to get now...it still isn't going to be something that will sell a lot (mainly because it can't really be produced in large quantities)
quantity chef tissues, ummm well other than special orders...the only ones that will really want these are pretty much just the chefs only out to make a quick buck.
BE tissues for chefs are just as out of whack as the chef foods atm...there is the 1 tissue that seems way too powerful...but only because the resources needed for the others are exponentially harder to get, and do not confer a similar exponential benefit.
the same is true for brandy...its the best that chefs have...but is in no way overpowered...it just seems that way as essentially everything else is underpowered.
as for pricing...it really depends on the tissue you make...I would imagine chefs jumping at a price of 2k per tissue for flavor tissues...but might balk at the same price for BSN, or micronutrients...you might not even be making a profit given the going rates for good milk, etc at 2k for a medium flavor tissue...
if all a BE could make were wild gnorts and had 1 schem for a GSP...the GSP would seem vastly overpowered when compared to the gnorts...but that doesn't mean that a GSP is overpowered, nor should it be nerfed...the gnorts just need to get better (especially since theres lots of other better than GSP wild pets out there).
"You guys (chef's & BE's) are flaming each when it's SOE's fault for adding in the retarded interdependancies & rediculous time sinks."
LOL, kudos.
Been awhile since I've been able to come back and see what I stirred up. ![]()
Maybe I misjudged the number of people out there that are doing chef just to earn a quick buck. For that, I apologize to you BE's. On top of that I would just like to commend all the BE's that have posted in reply here because you guys have been very respectful and patient with us chefs that have invaded your forum.
I would just like to point out that I am not terribly aware of the pricing that goes on on the other servers ... heck I'm not even terribly aware of it on my own server. All I know is that people say my prices are fair. I've been chefing it up now for almost two months. I started with 350k credits in my bank. I now have 250k. The highest I ever got was 550k at one time. This is not because I'm not making anything or not selling anything. I am making and selling plenty. I just don't have insane prices. Now I realize that some chefs do price gouge, and it's embarrassing, but I'm sure that soon it will all settle down eventually. All I'm trying to say is that until that time, there must be some BE out there somewhere that is willing to not price gouge in order to do business with a chef (such as myself) who can't afford a 1.6 mil order of BSN simply because they don't price gouge.
And I noticed someone was wondering why price gouging hasn't happenned with trim. Well the answer to that is simple: the prereqs for chef and tailor are the same and trim is in the bottom of one of the tailor trees. So for an extra 9 skill points, any chef can make their own trim. ![]()
Now I have a question ... someone made the point that it takes more skill pts to be master BE than master chef, which is true ... what I don't understand is why they thought that a chef would want to master the entire profession when the only thing we want out of it is the supplements? If you don't need or want to make critters, why waste the skill points? Just to say your a master? I'm not understanding the logic here.

Hmm, I didn't see where I or anyone else suggested that. But of course like any other "quality centric" crafting profession, it's all about experimentation. So yea, you could do 0-0-4-0 and be able to make all but a couple of the tissues (there are actually some tissue schematics you only get with the master box), but they'd be horrible tissues. Or you could do 0-0-4-4 and make all but a couple of the tissues and they'd be quite good. Or you could master it and get them all and make them great. I think you get at least 2-3 more experimentation points at master in BE.

"Not sure where you got your info MS, but Master Chef only takes 92 SP's to get to, MBE takes 121. You could just take the Tissue line and the Engineering Techniques lines, but then you won't be a Master BE."

This one's to answer ArthurDent's question 2 posts up. ![]()
Oh, and I just want to say that while I think some BE's are price gouging, I totally disagree with Gake that they should be no more than 400 credits ... that's too extreme the other direction. Even I know that the 20 or 25 organic that it takes to make the MicroNutrient Supplements is worth near 400 credits alone. Sorry Gake, but I have to stick up for the BE's on this one. ![]()

I have an alt tailor who I give all my tissues to so I can't say what pricing should be. On the final clothes the prices I've seen are about 1k per bonus point plus a bit so I'd say price your tissues around half that and see if they sell. If they sell too fast then bump it up a little, too slow, drop it a bit.
As to chef tissues, the crates I make I charge 5 cpu for harvestable resources and 15 cpu for hand gathered stuff plus a 200 cred power charge for the factory. I have a working arrangement with a chef and I suspect that if I wanted to get another arrangement I could. I don't think I want to charge more since I don't have a great deal of use for the cash and I don't want my food prices to go up too high.
On stims I sell them individually on the bazaar for (strength)x(charges)/5 but I may drop that to /10 to see if they sell faster.
