I've been away from BE a long time and might

be wayout of line here, but I think the Rancor I just made

have pretty high damage.

Thoughts and opinions appreciated

Highest I have made is 499 - well 501 but i resampled and killed that one. People are reporting that pets with over 500 damage get invalidated by the system and enough have reported this happening that i do believe them Tamed but cannot be called out again is what i hear.

Congrats! Unfortunately, from what I understand... any pets post-CU with over 499 max damage will not be tamable/callable/useable.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I've gathered from other threads

Dor, do you use the MDH-MDH-MDH-MDH-JF recipe to get the 499? I keep meaning to try this one out and just haven't gotten around to it. And I know nothing about 2nd generation crafting

I got 763 damage on a CL135 bearded jax.

Anakin: Master, I think my lightsaber is getting dull. Its not doing nearly as much damage as it used to.
Obi-Wan: O.k. when we're done showing the youglings around the temple, we'll stop by the bazaar and you can buy a new crystal. I hope you've got a couple million credits saved up for this.
Anakin: WHAT?!!?? I don't have THAT kind of cash!
Obi-Wan: Well you could try sharpening it on these younglings. I've got a headache and all their questions are driving me NUTS!
Anakin: hmmm.... Sharpen my lightsaber on younglings...... hmmmmmm.....
Obi-Wan: uh, that was a joke Anakin. I'll spot you the cash for a new crystal THIS time, but next time you're on your own.

Unfortunately once that is tamed, trained and called a few times tyou will get the invalid pet message and it will either be un-callable or you will have to convert it, damage of 499 seems to be max at CL70.

Amethyst,

I'm actually working up a recipe that mostly involves Kash DNA and generational sampling - It's not perfected yet tho The reason I decided to go this route is because of the hardiness/fortitude thing being tied together for that recipe. With lower fortitude you can push things a wee bit higher.

I did make a level 60 with 499 damage which is working out well for my friend who wanted it to level his 10's with but I'm not entirely happy with the health on that 60 and feel I could do better - hence the wanting to do generational sampling.

I *think* if i recall someone did post a generational recipe here the other day for a high damage pet ...

Rancha on our server is going to the 3rd or 4th gen and knocking the damage up on her 8K level 70's. She's got it at 445+ now and it makes a great pet. I trialled both the one I bought from her and my own 6K - 496 damage (one-off) rancor and they were both nice. Seems that with that much damage, they hold aggro well - at least for me b/c I guess i don't do that much damage. My mCH character is a mCH/mDoc with a little rifle in marksman. Oh, but they were being very helpful when they were fighting with an almost full-template jedi so that isn't too bad i guess.

As for the gen stuff. Rancha said - just TRY it. So I'm trying it but I don't understand what I'm doing yet enough to explain it to someone else. But what she does is - she goes above the desired level and then brings it down by usinga generational sample subbed into ... actually I don't know what she does after that. I know what *I* do and it seems to work ok but not enough that i can look at the DNA and know what i'm getting there before i do it?

Really want to get my head around this ..

Thanks for your help, Dor

I, too, am still trying to wrap my head around this one! I understand that sampling from a BE crafted pet will give you "2nd generation" (I think that's how it works) but then how/where to use these samples effectively (since it'sa sample of a recipe combination and not of a single creature I'm used to dealing with individually in a recipe slot) is my big confusion.

Yesterday I made an Uller-Saw-Steel-Uller-Saw CL70ish recipe and cranked the aggression just over 40%. My end result was a CL71. I then sampled from that CL71 I made, and got 3 DNA samples. But that's where I draw the blank. When I go in to make a new skin, where do I use those samples? I then did an Uller-Saw-Steel-Uller-2ndGen just to see what would happen, and I ended up with a CL65 instead of a CL70. Health stats were about the same as when I craft a CL70, but with a bit less damage, understandably.

I guess my brain just can't process how to use these 2nd gens properly- I guess if I were trying to dilute things I'd just pop in a 2nd gen sample in the spot where I need to dilute? I think if I understood the different stats and how they affect the different slots I'd be better off. Trial and error looks to be my method for now, but I really need to get a better grasp on this!

Thanks for your wisdom and guidance- I appreciate it!

Lucha? This was what i was planning to do. So I went to Dath a few weeks ago. Got lots of malkloc bull samples with 950+ endurance. Made a template with them and did not experiment on prowess or physique for sure. Endurance was something like 963 (b/c of the extra 15% you get). Put into a vir vur (test bunny). Sampled. The endurance on the gen 1 was 850 every single time. At this point i thought i did something wrong since it was my first crack at generational (well my own recipe) work.

I will have to try it again i guess to see if this happens again ... i just thought after that, that the stats just fall when you sample the gen1.

This was the impression I was under as to what would happen when sampling gen1 and so on. It makes me very curious and makes me want to go out and track down some malklocs now just to give it a go. Maybe I'll run a few tests tonight and see how it goes. Thanks for all of the great info!

generational samples help you to dilute DNA to lower some stats while raising some others. One kind of handy thing you can do is this...
1) go sample a bunch of lvl 75 malklocs (1st 4 stats are really close to 1k each, but not quite)
2) stick the dna into a templates and make a few of the same kind of unusual pet with it. lets say... durnis for now. don't experiment.
3) sample the durnis till they are all dead, dead, dead! (you will notice that the dna says its from a durni, but you know thats not really true. its a sample from a 1st gen pet. You should always make your 1st gens the same so you know what is what in your bag later)
4) take those samples and make a new kind of unusual pet with those. lets say... squalls. again, don't experiment.
5) take a sample from a squall. Now check out your stats on the DNA. By this time the 1st 4 stats on the DNA should have crept up to 1k. The problem is, your power and other stats have, well... gone into the toilet.

But that's ok! We like this DNA sample a lot actually. It can be used in the first and/or second slots to give the pet some amazing regen / health. Jagged Fang in slot 5 will bring the power right up. And some imagination can go into 3 & 4 to make whatever you want. If you had just used normal malkloc dna, the pet wouldn't work out to be quite right.

The generational sampling enables you to filter down some stats you don't need, and bump up other stats you really want to focus on. The problem is, you really just have to try it. It can't really be explained other than to say by making a new critter, you have a new source of dna that you can better predict than wild dna.

*warning* going down too many generations will degrade your dna, but you might want that. Also, I think nam's level calc does NOT work with 3rd gens or more.

I've tried that recipe - twice now and it always comes out Level 73... I've been playing with Uller Stoneclaw/Uller Stoneclaw/Uller Stoneclaw/Uller Stoneclaw/Jagged Fang.. First one I didn't experiment and it came out level 66 with 8k Health and Damage around 107-410...(mind you I'm not in game for exact numbers) So now I'm trying to play with the numbers to see what I can come up with..
