Thread: Question about DNA sampling

I came back a couple of weeks ago with my MCH/TKM/MScout and qas having a lot of fun with him, I decided to reactivate my MBE/MScout. I have started to make tissues. Having my MCH gather meat and then run my factories. ALways alot of fun to have one toon help another.
That bring s me to making pets and getting the DNA. I quit back in Novemeber to play WOW and EQ2. So, I am just getting use to all of the new changes. I noticed that class means alot when it comes to getting aggro. That it is main concern on sampling. My BE is master scout and someboxes of Ranger (tracking line). I use to get buffed, put on armor, track high level creatures and then sample DNA. If my scent broke or caught aggro another way, I would just turn tail and run. Being buffed and armored it was no problem.
Now that class means alot on getting agroo, what is the best template for sampling DNA?
Can I still crawl up to high level creatues, with me only havin mask scent and a low class, and effectively sample DNA?
Do I need a combat skill now?
Half the fun of my BE is making high level pets for my MCH and to sell. Any help would be apprectiated.

it's not neccessary to be a combatant to successfully collect DNA. Your CL determines how much damage you can take before you're incapped- your old method of masking scent, jawa beer, camouflage, etc. and running if you get aggro'dwill still work just fine 
I've heard of CL17 BEs getting DNAwith no problems regularlyon Dathomir. Just mask scent and carefully approach your target creature to sample. You may even want to leave your armor at home so that it doesn't get decay damage from any deaths you might encounter, since it's really your CL that is going to determine how long you last vs. your target. The armor might allow you to take one more hit, but if you're going to get incapped... you're gonna get incapped, and might as well save the condition of your armor

Ok, it will be like before I used buffs and armor to sample. I would mask, jawa, and attempt to run or be at the cloning station. Just as long as it is not worse then before, I will be fine with all the deaths. Thank you.

If you're a Wookiee, you have to choose between armor and clothing for some body parts. My MBE/MCH wears full armor when fighting, but switches to Wookiee Shoulder Pads with Mask Scent and Wookiee Sages Hoodwith Taming bonus when sampling or taming.

My best defence against unnecessary trips to the cloner is ... time. If reddot - try to group with a level 80 and then they cannot sense you as well (mask scent works better). But in any case ... if aggro'd and incapp'd more than once in a 10 minute period ... go sit somewhere safe for 10 minutes and start again.

Also, just so you know you don't HAVE to sample reds for good dna anymore. Malklocs are among our best dna and they are non-aggro creatures.

i recomend not wearing armor and empting your inventory of prised posisions.
all i wear is maskes scent clothing and carry jawa beer. i dont realy mind if i am incapped, heck you get used to it.
if you wear armor if you clone it decays and all armor will do is buy you a few more seconds.

Bull Malklocs are among my favorite creatures to sample. Ino longer sample regular Malklocs. Bull Malklocs are the same CL but have better stats, particularly Health Regen. So, it makes no sense to sample regular Malklocs.
