Thread: your opinion please

I've wanted to be a smuggler since entering this game. Now I can. But should I?

I'm aware of the issues with the profession - not the least of which there is nothing to smuggle - but I have faith that eventually Sony will fix them. The question is when. Thus my question to the profession:

Should I join the profession now and struggle through the issues and nerfs or pursue something else and come back when the profession is more viable?

Note, I want smuggler for RP, not combat (or at least, not combat only)

Your opinion please. Thank you

If your looking to RP then go for it. Nothing will be more rewarding.

All profressions are broken. Some more than others. There's no escaping that no matter what you choose.

I would say that currently, yes it's worth it. Despite the problems and useless Underworld tree, I still have lots of fun playing my smuggler. I just got Last Ditch recently too, and I like it. *grin*

Eventually you will be left wanting more, wanting fixes and improvements etc... I know I do. But it's still a quiteplayable class, at least IMO. Besides, if you want it mostly for RP, nothing should be stopping you.

If you're interested in being a smuggler and don't want to be "the best" in combat or l33t or whatever, then do it! It's fun to RP smuggler a bit since there still seems to be a lot of mystique around the profession.Sure some things about it are a little buggy (mostly combat specials and lack of modifiers) and the underworld tree doesn't make a lot of sense, but overall it can be a very fun and rewarding profession. I spend a lot more time interacting with people than I ever had before since becoming a smuggler and there's definately alot of room for RP in the profession. And look at it this way, smuggler, even at master, leaves a lot of skill points available for a secondary profession, so if you decide you don't really like it you can just drop it later on.

Then do it. I've had more fun as a Smuggler than anything else. I'm an avid rpger, and bring my experience from tabletop games such as DnD and the SW EU tabletop game, etc, with me into SW:G. It helps a lot, and has really allowed me to expand my character in a personal way.

It's hard to roleplay all the time though, just be aware of that.
But if you have some patience, and can learn to enjoy the profession for what it is, and not for what it should be, it's a lot of fun.
The broken stuff will be fixed, just don't expect it immediately.

Okay so I was sitting around and I came accros a spam saying "...non-ch pet with 5k Health 3k action and 3k mind, 23% resists, 100-110 damage..."

Being a Master Bio-engineer I was naturally curious... I told the guy that I thought that this was most likely a bugged pet, and that bugged pets are currently being delt with on TC. I told him that even if he was able to sell the pets for lots of moeny that they would be 'fixed' by next publish (#6).

after alot of convincing... I made a deal with him.. "I'll pay you forall of em.. if they are bugged I plan to destroy them, if not I'll give 2 out of 3 back and you can sell them for uB3r Cr3d!5 d00D"

now I consult with you guys, my fellow bio-engineers.. in your opinion do you think that this is a bugged pet? Considering that the best pet made by any BE had only 4k health, 2k Action and 2k mind, little resists, and 40-50 damgae (sorry if I screwed up on those statsTal-N, writing from memory, but I think that was about it).

Thanx

I'd be interested to see how far those 23%'s go in the resistance. If it were say two resistances with the rest as vuln. I might be able to believe it was going to stay in the legit area. However, I sadly cannot say this. If in fact it was 23% all or close, I'd say no way.

with the resists there were only thre vulns.. the rest were 23

With Ham at 5/3/3 and those resists I'd say no way. Legit wise what I've seen is more in the 2/2/2 realm with some mild resistances.

The HAM combined with the resistances tells me no way. You'd be pushing CL 12 @ 3k HAM (not to mention furthering it with those resistances across the board). Just my opinion though . . .

I'd concure on the bugged front. My best is around 4.5/2/1 with 7% KR and ER, 30-40 damage, some other resists that I can't rem. My guess is atm overall HAM could go upto 8.5-9k assuming all resists were 0/vuln and dps was min. Given that scale those are over the top.

I made a pet with 4k ham and like 7% resist to kinetic and energy with 1 or 2 vulns... cl9

Is that a bugged pet? I hope not I was pretty proud of the accomplishment... if it was bugged I would be disappointed...
