Thread: New master An introduction and a few questions
Hi all,
I have been lurking quietly in the forum her for some time now, and this past weekend I finally made master. I wanted to say hi to everybody, and also to ask a couple of questions.
I have a terrible time consistently getting enough meat and things to fillthe orders I get.I spend more than half my game-time scrounging bazaars and killing kreetles to get the stuff I need to make one crate a night. I have no shortage of potential customers, and I could make a TON of money here if I could just get the resources I need. Is there any remedy for this? What do you guys do? I hate the idea that even at master I'll have to struggle just to crank out a crate here or there.Since you can't puta heavy harvester on meat, is there ANY other good way to get it? This is really frustrating! If I wanted to walk around killing animals all night I would have chosen a more combat-capable profession. And judging by the bazaars, not many people both to sell meat, or least not in any useful quantity.
I've been charging 150cr per +1 per tissue, with a 15% discount on a crate or more...so I get 47800 per crate for +15 tissues. I've had a few people ask me to come down a little on price, but when I've refused, they always buy anyway, so I've figured I'm probably pricing about right...Does this sound good to you guys? Or maybe I should increase my prices to reduce demand until I can keep up?
Any suggestions appeciated. I'm feeling a little lost right now. Had no idea MBE would be so hectic and stressful.

I know how you feel, Case. The resources chase drove me back to Musician. I'm hanging onto Master Bio-Engineer by the skin of my teeth in the hopes that the changes on Test Center will make it worth keeping once they get to live.
'Bout the only thing I can suggest is finding a Ranger who is willing to take a commission to hunt for a specific kind of creature resource. Post on both the Ranger and your server forums. Be prepared to pay through the nose. Typically they expect at least 10 credits per unit for decent meat/bone/hide. Make sure you let them know what you require, whether it's Flavor/PE/OQ for tissues, OQ/PE for stims or all of the stats for clones.
Hrmm, that's discouraging news. I will see about finding a ranger to help me though. Thank you!

Tissues are by far the most difficult and expensive product we have, getting something as basic as wild meat is very very difficult since there's not a wide variety of animals in the galaxy which actually have any. Since each planet only has 3 types of resources at any one time this does tend to limit things alot more than any other profession plus not all that many people bother with scout skills. Organic resources are rarely avaialble in bulk quantities and this often leads to completely dry periods where items cannot be made and yet because they cannot be gathered fast enough when the quality is good it means consistant supplies of anything which is of good quality isn't possible.
The devs are expecting the quality of goods to fluctuate because the resources do, they summize that as long as the materials exist than these items can be made. However what they are missing is that people do not want to buy crap stuff and don't care that it's the best we can do with current resources and leads bio-engineers into the problem of losing customers alot. The designers need to wake up and get in touch with how the real player economy works, people don't buy junk, they don't care if it's as good as it gets at the moment. We need a means to stockpile or generate our materials in an easier way for us to operate consistantly in the player economy.
I'm in the same boat, but I've given up trying to be a volume supplier of tissues. There's just no way. Even if you were to say supply a couple of crates a day that requires a staggering amount of resource. Really not possible to get that outside of a PA, or unless you "know someone".
I've been fortunate enough to find a few places that specialize in selling this kind of stuff, but they aint cheap, and have a few friends and customers who sell me stuff, but the supply certainly lacks the sort of consistency you can achieve with harvested resources.
So, my answer is that tissues aren't like pet stims, they are supposed to be kind of rare. It's probably a good that that they are, since they are not consumable like pet stims, so there is really only a finite number of them needed per server, even with decay.
I used to have a shop, and got tied to it, and my harvestors and my customers.
But I found I was not enjoying this game or playing it for that matter.
So I stopped.
I am having alot more fun now.
People give me huge amounts of money, even when I say something is free.
I suggest that maybe if anyone gets tired of the ball and chain, you might try to stop doing it, you dont have to have ten trillion harvestors or a house or sell stuff in this game.
Many thanks guys. I think I'll take when seems to be the general concensus on advice and just not sweat it and not try to mass-produce tissues. I already have a couple of good customers so I will be able to sell those that I do make.
Interesting that things turned out to be this way, and that you mention pet stims, Arthur...because up until now my thoughts were that pet stims are too much trouble to make and that I'd stick to tissues because they're simpler. LOL!
Maybe it's time to see how my clones will sell, and how good of a pet stim I can come up with.
Anyway, I really appreciate your input, everyone. Thanks!
