Thread: My apologies to the forum

My apologize to the forum for the recent fight.

And just so everybody understand I am not here to, nor will I ever, try to dictate prices. I might suggest prices or disagree with your prices, but that is my right as a consumer...as long as I do it politely.

Although most chefs and BEs have done this in game, on the boards we need to come to an agreement where BEs are getting a fair deal on their additives and chefs can still give their customers a fair deal. That is what most chefs want for the long haul. Those chefs who are price gouging...I don't think they will be around for long. Especially after crafting becomes so much more difficult with the upcoming patch.

To get to this end, it requires negotiation and haggling (which is half the fun.) In order for negotations to go smoothly, each side should understand where the other side is coming from. And that is all I am trying to do, point out things from the chef point of view and correcting some misconceptions I see about chefs. Not to troll, not to dictate prices...just giving the chef side of view in the negotations.

So I apologize to the forum if my latest posts got out of hand.

By the way, feel free to come over to the chef forum to give your point of view, as long as they do it politely. The majority of chefs will be happy to discuss things with you politely (although there are always a few who won't. Just ignore them...something I need to learn how to do.)

Ahh don't worry about it, sometimes people just hit a nerve on a bad day and you can't help but bite back. I do it all the time and have got an infamous reputation because of it. Just remember that at the end of the day you can say 'f*ck 'em', walk away and spend some quality time with your g/f or whatever to chill out

SirWims you got it alittle wrong on my perspective..

We are producers . We, as a firm, produce a sub component to another firm, the other firm sell the end product. Now, our problem is the market delay. I know, when i produce for like 40k meat, thats about 2,5k units, i shake the market a bid, together with all those other BEs , what i dont know is how much, i cant just go out and look at other peoples vendors, cause i dont know what will happen to the market when MY round is over.

Then , what can i as a BE do to prevent seing my things being sold at high prices , and i sold it too low?

I can sell it , EXPENSIVE!

So when i get 50k for a crate, i know at this moment the Chef is thinking " yeah its expensive , but hi, i sell it off 200k" , now as you said the burble might blow , and suddenly he cant do that anymore cause all the chef bought BE components.

And some chef who had a BE friend made some alot cheapper , so when you buy a crate you em for 100k. Now the Chef have a problem, i earned my money . But i know, that Chef wont come back to me for next supply !

The point is, this is not something that can be arranged, i will always sell my things cheap to a guildie and expensive to everybody else, and so wil alot of other people , and sudenly i cant sell so damm expensive anymore..

Just like the Pet stimpack episode, when everybody was a CH , with no medic, they ALL wanted them, it was crazy, i knew i was being an **edit** when i saw my doctor friend go below 1k pr unit, when i sold the same components at 1500. But thats just business .

If people want it they have to more pay morefor it, if people dont want it, then we will make it cheaper so people want it...

At the moment people want it, so sell expensive.

Yes I see BE price way to much but if they sell who is at fault? I see every profession sell things for to much.So long as people are paying dumb money then others will sell for dumb money. I refuse to buy meats let alone for over 10c. So it takes me alot longer to get them <shrugs> Can't findbulk meat anyway. I do it for fun and that is a side bonus. I do not hunt a critters unless there is something decent in it. (skins, bones, meats) The crap of "I only use the best so I charge so much" iscrap. It takes just as long to harvest it be it mining or skinning. It just the smarts to get the good stuff if it matters that much.

SirWims. Far as I concened, let it ride. Nothing will change as long as a consumer will buy it. If a cheef wants to pay a mill for a schem then he will find a BE that will sell it to him. If people will pay 5k each food thing then they will sell for that and people will be trying to sell for more. Like you said, haggling is part of the fun. Just ashame that then if do sell cheap that aanother buys it and markes it up and sells it high anyway thus hurting the BE and cheef and making easy creds for themselfs and say "hey they want to spend that kinda money for it, nothing saying I can be in the busness of looking for it and reselling at inflated price".

It just a game. Money is not real. End of night it is a cold beer and the lovely partner (if have one) if not it is stil the end of the night.

Personally I think the agreement we must come to is to agree to disagree. There is no way all BEs on one server can agree on one price for a crate of tissues or a schematic, and there is no way all Chefs on one server could do the same. People charge what they want, as long as you sell and get by, what's the problem? I can't pay as much as some chefs for schematics, well, that's my problem because I'm poor, and I'm not trying to get BEs to dump their prices to accomodate me, that'd just be stupid.I just think the animosity here has gone way beyond what's even understandable. Why can't we all just be friends?

Yes and no.

I don't have it in for all Chefs, but I don't want the oneschargingoverboard prices doing it from my work.

I've basically come to the descision to give any Chef on Ahazi a discountif they prove to me (WP and vendor check) that they sell at "sane" prices (115-150k), otherwise they can pay the fullpriceoff the vendor (I've settled on 18 * power * # per crate as a pricing system).

They can have an even bigger discountif theygraft me with Veghash and VB )

This way, if they're fair, I'll be fair. If they help me out, I'll help them out...

On the tissues I make, I charge 45 cpu for the meat and 20 spu for the flora. This is more than enough to cover all the unexpected costs in making them. I figured if they do not sell at this price, I will sell other stuff. This makes the Broad Spectrum go for 50k. The meat I actually use, never has a net cost under 20 cpu. The good flora is always offplanet and rarely in rotation.. and with the recipe taking 60k flora per run and I am on the 4th run... Good flora gone.

You dont want to get to the point where the buyer suggests what they want to pay, that is not really the way an open market works.

As long as I can count on my fellow BE's not selling schematics, then the market forces will eventually dictate a fair price for all involved.

That is how haggling works, which is a form of open market. That is also what auctions are, the buyers suggesting a price. Nothing wrong with that.

And with the demand and turn around there is, selling schematics will not hurt anything. Really, it would be a drop in the bucket.
