Thread: Thinking of BE

Just thought i would ask a quick couple of questions to the masses.

I grinded my way to jedi with my main toon, and of course unlocked a second toon. I have pondered quite a bit about what to do with this toon. I am thinking of becoming a BE. It was something i always thought would be fun. Looks like it has a wildlife side and a crafting side. Wish it came with some combat skills also.

So for those that have been doing it for a while, what do you like about it? What don't you like about it?

Also, what do you pair with it? Like Master BE, master Chef, novice Merchant? Master BE, little bit of combat(which one), and merchant. No merchant, hire one. This is the part i am trying to figure out them most.

Thanks in advance,

Only been doing it since CU, my alt was a BH before that. All I can say is that I'm loving it, it's great for making money and you havnt really lived untill you've runned away (because you are lvl 30isch and no combat prof) from a rancor after sampling its dna

I'm currently mBE/mCH 0004 mercahnt but I'm thinking of going mBE/4400Carbineer/0004merchant cos standing afk in the akkuran cave with your jedi is just to risky

I'm MBE/MCH with Ranger xx2x (working towards xx3x) and at the moment my CL is about 60. Having CH as my only combat prof is not the best but hey, as long as I remember to clone then I'm alright lol. I love the creature crafting aspect and have only made a few tissues before getting bored and deciding to stick to pets. I do wish I had a better combat prof to help me out with those higher level DNA samples but I love my MBE/MCH combo and wont change it anytime soon.

I'm not sure if this is the type of answer you were looking for but this combo is working well for me. BE is a good way to make money in my opinion and its loads of fun too. Not to mention the pet crafting side takes a fair bit of actual skill to get exactly want you want (no offense to the other crafting professions, I know its not easy to make high stat items, but with BE, each of the 5 'crafting boxes' has a huge impact on the final outcome depending on what goes in which box)

I actually never even thought about a CH combo. Guess i just never thought it would work if you can only shoot a CDEF. That is why i am asking the last question. I was thinking of mBE/ 3000 Merchant/ 4004 Pistols but i am not sure at this point. I was thinking pistols mainly for the root, so i could get away.

I can't say too much because I have an alt who is MCarb/Mpist so he handles all the fighting. In theory I think it could work but usually when I am sampling I only have CH to back me up. The pets do a good job until I get far enough away then depending on my mood I either get them to follow me or I just go back and recover them from their incaps. I think a combat prof is a good idea with BE (by combat prof I mean anything besides CH)especially for DNA sampling but that also depends on your playing style I guess.

I dont even use a CDEF or anything other weapon, just my pets but that will change I think after Publish 20. I will have to see how that goes then I can give you a better answer. Maybe someone from TC could help out?

If you are going to try to do merchant with BE, I think it's less frustrating to just go ahead and go full master. It's not as fun as selling finished goods, but you will get plenty of business. This is a lot of downtime though... like, all down time.

Chef/BE and using someone else's vends works just fine - same for Tailor.

The first time I ever mastered BE was with Master Dancer. As much downtime as MMerch/MBE, but you get to have fun pets to perform with that you made and you have good relations with Chefs/Tailors. The contrast in between Social and Solo play is kinda nice too in one template.

CH/BE is the most active MBE template and I think the most immediately rewarding. It's a really fun option andI think a lot of people go with it because it does have a nice pay off with your clone making.

I think BE/CM and BE/Doc are both interesting too if you like healing. Both are good active alternatives to the CH stand by if pets aren't your thing.

Those are the ones I've done pre and post-CU. Ranger and Rifles are two other popular pairings, but I've not messed around with either enough to give a real opinion on those.

No need to use a CDEF if your only combat class is CH... Master CH is CL 54... there are plenty of weapons that only have a CL requirement that you can use.

My mind is still in pre-CU land or something. I keep thinking i need certain professions to carry a good weapon. I know some of them are, but most are not.

Thanks
