Thread: CH/BE cant tame cloned Dewback but can tame wild one?????

I was hoping someone could help me out here (I read the FAQ but couldnt see anything relating to this.

My friend is a BE/CH. He has enough BE skill to clone a Dewback and enough CH skill to tame up to CL25 (and as part of this test we tames a baby mountain Deback last night). However he is unable to tame the cloned Dewbacks he makes.

Initially I thought that the clone probably had a higher CL than a wild one (because BEs are supposed to be able to make better versions) or the cloned one wasvicious or something (which his CH skills dont let him do yet). However having checked out the 2 BE web sites listed in the FAQ the Dewback apparently only goes to CL18 (same as the wild one) and theres no mention of vicious

The only thing I did find which may explain it was the following reply to another post:

"Anything over non-CH level has to know the Transfer command to be traded once it's been tamed. To tame it in the first place, the person needs to have the relevant Taming Vicious/Wild Creatures skill."

So can anyone explain why he cant tame his cloned Dewbacks?

Also do cloned pets start fully grown (i.e. max CL) or do they start at baby size (low CL) and then grown like wild creatures?

Thanks and sorry for the newbie questions

I've only ever tamed a Jax that I created and it grew in my data pad.

The dewies must be bugged (alot of bio eng creatures are im afraid) perhaps someone can confirm?

SorryAshrid but dewback is not bugged. I can tame them on my server (BloodFin). I think you should have at least taming 1 to use it anyway.

Hope it helps.

I guess I need to clarify the question (I did ramble on a bit)

My friend is CH/BE. He can tame wild creatures up to CL25, last night he tamed baby mountain dewback, yet he cannot tame dewbacks he makes with his BE skills

Hmm, thats odd then. BE Dewbacks are Cl18 AFAIK, so with CH 1/1/0/0 useable.

For reference, I cloned and tamed a Dewback I made yesterday evening just fine without any problems. Maybe his Datapad is full ? The error messages can be misleading at times.

I have two BE dewbacks that I've been using for awhile. So I'm not sure what the problem is. Make sure he /bugs it. I assume that if he tames mountain dewbacks he knows all about having datapad space and so on. Click on the deed and choose Tame from the radial menu. The baby should appear at your feet. BE dewbacks are cl 18, and non aggressive. They start out as babies and then grow to full size like wild pets. They will reach their full HAM, but the final damage rounds down to the nearest ten. They are red when tamed, not green like the deed shows. If taming them doesn't work then it's a bug, but not one I've heard before.

BE dewbacks are cl 18

Are they CL18 when immediately tamed? (wild babies are CL2)

For the record, dewbacks found in the wilds are CL 18 too.

They start out low level. The CL goes up as the critter "grows." I'm suspecting when your friend tried to tame the dewback his datapad was full. You're only allowed so many pets in your datapad depending on your skill level. If he still has the deed he might want to try taming it again.

Sorry for the doubt on my part, but I am assuming it is user error. I have not had a stitch of trouble with tameing Dewbacks, nor have my customers.

The messages do lack in why can't do something with taiming. I not know of any bug with dewes but maybe a new one <shrugs> I would have to say his data is full as a guess. CH forums maybe more help.

Just to be clear. To tame one of your created pets it must be in your inventory not on the floor of the house. If you drop it select it and type /tame, this willnot work. You must have it in your inventory and pull up the radial dial while its in your inventory. You should get a tame option. You may hve to wait a few seconds.
