Good luck man, hope you get that slot with all that work your doing! Iwas Novice BE for a while, but couldn't really get into it, same with all the other crafting professions, just seems like a lot of work hehehe

So I've been a BE for 3 days. Why? Because of a little blue box. When I saw the words "Master Bio-Engineer", I let out a loud groan. This meant losing all but Master Carbineer and basically (in my own opinion) sucking at the thing I enjoy the most: PVP. But I decided to stick it out, because I want that FS Slot.

First off, To the person that gave me the advice on DNA Sampling (DJC was it?), I take back that your advice sucks. For DNA I and II, it didn't help much at all, but once I discovered Muon Gold and got DNA II, it really has helped me fly through DNA III. So a belated thanks from me.

So what happens? I work up through Organic Chem I-IV and Novice BE. I was fairly optimistic, hey, I lose my PVP advantage (BH Carb I-III), most of Scout (keep Explore and Hunt), some of Marksman (Not sure where to go with this yet), but I do get to make my own mounts. That seemed kinda cool. Then I discover...ugh, DNA Sampling. This was HORRIBLE. It was absolutely awful to do initially. DNA I and half of DNA II took forever to get, like 2 and a half days. It was terrible. I was so dreading the 50kfor DNA III and DNA IV. I mean, this whole idea of DNA Sampling just seemed terrible to me. Well I decided to try something. Muon Gold. What a life save this was for me. I cruised through the rest of DNA II and I have 31k towards DNA III after doing Pikets and Bols on Dantooine for about an hour and a half (not hardcore either). It was pretty good. I'm starting to get a hang of the DNA side of things.

And then there's the Creature Crafting. So far, it seems there's a huge demand on mounts (Kaadu and Dewbacks being the only two I can make) but people are so uneducated. I've had multiple cases of people buying a mount from me then getting pissed its a baby (personally, I think this needs to be changed, but that's me). People just don't know crap about BE, kinda saddens me for the people that wanna be a BE and make a profit and have fun doing it. Me? I'm just grinding my way through for my FS Slot. While I'm still trying to understand experimenting and what the stats actually mean, I'm actually enjoying making creatures. I wish I was a CH (used to be a Master) so I could use them, but 'dems 'da breaks. Its not that bad.

Tissue Crafting is something I haven't dabled in yet. Don't really care for it. Sooo not much to say.

My random notes on BE are...

- It sucks at first. It really really does. Being a noob BE is like being a noob Marksman. You suck. Badly.

- I'm currently 1/0/2/1 and I don't feel gimped (mainly cuz Kaadu are "in") like I did with Carbineer at around that level. It's just a different experience than anything I've done.

- While I think I'm still gonna grind it (as best I can grind, I suck at grinding), I'm gonna have some fun with the profession at the same time. I like making the creatures.

All in all, I'd say I had a suck experience at first, but I'm starting to like it and get the hang of it. Though I've become completely dependant on Muon Gold. I'm such an addict.

It just takes lots of money and lots of patenience to be a Be.

Also Stock up on Meat and Flora .. have at least 35k flora for every 15k of meat.

I just got 3 Squares away from master BE.

I used to be a BioE, back in the dark old days.

if you must grind...

find a good WP for a resource... if not flora, then perhaps ore for your favorite architect. drop a camp. hand sample the resource. start your crafting (you should have at LEAST three crafting tools to work with... and more can't hurt). craft like mad. continue to sample. craft like mad. use the practice mode on micronutrients, or pick your own favorite grind.

and above all, if your local laws permit it... drink heavily.

heh, lamer, hand sampling is the slowest way to do it. since you are now an expvper, i suggest the following.

go get 4 personal harvesters, they are cheap. set them all up on any flora food % higher than 90. then go kill stuff. kill stuff non stop for about 4 days. by now, you should have some pretty large stacks of meat from harvesting. go back to your harvestors and get the flora. now you should have enough to grind through at least 4 lower level blocks, maybe 3 upper level blocks. make micronutrients and hand them off to a chef and pay them 10k to just use them. that will make you even more xp.

the creature method to grinding is the slowest way to do it. you dont really get any more xp per combine/time since you have to spend at least 2 minutes gathering dna just for 1 creature at your level.

if you want to max out your dna line, head to lok, put everything in the bank, now that the decay patch is live. find snorbals, the older the better. they give tons of sample xp and dont DB. take yer muon gold and 1 crafting tool along with you. if you have a crafting droid, that's even better. just make templates in practice mode while you wait for the gold to get done. I recommend this step first.

lamer for hand sampling? I guess I also am even though can put down 6 large gardens on one resource if wanted. Not everybody has the option. I know I didn't working my way up. I still hand dig. Good luck getting that FS slot. I still think it so funny people droping what they wanted to do in a game they are paying for to take up trrades they could care less about and sink money into it because of FS slot hope. Just don't think yourself so better then other that offer help. I can hand sample better then a large garden but why not do that while crafting. Gorta do something or be someplace. Well of course a BE does not need to be abe to survay. Not part of the skill tree. I sugest just fining people in PA or take notice where you see gardens though first option is better. Let them tell you where any veggie is. As for meats. Same thing. You can not hunt enough to grind. When I was going up tree, I could not buy enough meat to grind and what was there was welll over 10c a meat

May the force be with you.

er... I seem to have generated a lot of confusion up there.

I advised hand sampling, in a camp, because:

while grinding micronutrient (or whatever you're using), you're not going anywhere. since you're going to be stationary, you might as well be in a camp (whether or not you need survival xp). if you have been using /dnasample and getting pounded, you'll regen wounds for free. and since you're stationary, and in a camp, you might as well be sampling (whether or not you need survey xp). if you sample flora, great. but you can sample anything, really... as I said, architects love ore.

I advised the sampling FIRST, because you can set up a camp almost anywhere... so set it up on a good %. and you can craft anywhere... so a camp is as good (or better) as anywhere else. just remember to use as many craft tools as you need to... micronutrient supplements work best on THREE running in sequence.

it's not a huge bonus, but every little bit can help. and if you're drinking heavily while doing this, you can hide away out in the field and not bother/be bothered with other players and their sobriety.

Two hints to grinding BE:
Early on, find a BE partner. Turn all your samples you get from DNA Sampling into Genetic Templates and then trade templates with your partner, you will each then get usage xp from the ones that your partner turns into creatures.

After finishing DNA sampling, find a tailor or chef partner. Grinding out tissues is much faster than creatures because you don't have to sample. If your partner uses those components then that gives you a huge usage xp bonus.

You are going to need massive amounts of meat and organics. Some tissue recipes call for specific types of organics or meat, so you will need to start gathering those depending on what kind of stuff your partner wants.

I just ground out micro nutrient in practice mode. You don't clog up your inventory and you get 5% additional points which makes up for the usage xp. You don't have to find a chef. You can just sit in your house or your camp and grind out nutrients over and over and over and over and over. You get 105 points for every coffee pot of useless green powder and you don't have to pay anyone to use it. A few days of nothing but sitting and crafting those stupid coffee pots will get you through the grind. Make sure to use practice mode so you don't have to stop and clear out your inventory.

The grind is totally mindless (which is why I don't do it except to make up for that last few thousand points in a box I decide I really want)but it does work. There are even some macros you can use. You can find them in different threads here in this forum.

The 100K of meat and oats is perfect. Turn off the brain and flex that mouse clicking finger.

You need 510k of Crafting Exp for Bio Engineer

Using the quickest method of macro nutrient Supplements

You will need 35k of flora and 15k of meat makes 105000 EXp

There for you need 175k of Flora and 75k of meat to make 525k of EXP.

Grinding out Macro nutrient supplements using a slower macro time of 8 seconds pause. i was able to do 40k of exp in 1 hour and 20. it has taken me a while to make Master becuase of lack of meat.

I am now 2/4/4/4

So you could make in 3 hours 120k of exp if you grind out macronutrient supplments..

when i started Be i had no clue about crafting..

What i started off on was experimentation.

Get that up to level 4 asap.

then go tissues then go Clone.

Then work on DNa as that is the easiest of the lot.
