What you see now (common in my galaxy anyway) is BE dabblers. They are creature handlers who have figured out the key to the mount industry is BE pet deeds.

What does this mean? BE dabblers have no vested interest in the profession. They don't care about the tissue line at all. They just want to mass produce kaadu, spats, and dewback.

The people who really care about this profession are a small group and getting smaller all the time.

Well-said, Buboo...I think on Naritus, there might be 10 real bio-engineers. Maybe. I know there's you, and Oct, and me, and Dozer, and I've seen at least 2 other Imperial ones. I don't know/haven't read enough posts by the others to know them well, but I'll lump them in as "real" bio-engineers.

The others are all novices who can make POS kaadus and sell them. What's really annoying is the fact that I can make a kaadu with 1K HAM (which I'm pretty sure is the limit on kaadu HAM), and not be able to compete with these doofuses who know nothing about the intricacies of cloning and make crap from gnort DNA they got from outside of Theed. It cheapens our hard work to make creatures better than Mother Nature can, and it's just REALLY frustrating. I like to think of each creature I make as a work of art, really, because I put a lot of time and thought into getting the highest quality stuff, in terms of resources and DNA. For example, my typical spat has about 1170 or so HAM (I refuse to sell anything with less for a mount), and I was trying to make the perfect spat for a friend of mine. I slaved for over 2 HOURS just to get her that extra 30 HAM to hit the spat's HAM cap limit of 1200 (I actually exceeded it slightly, but the full-grown spat has exactly 1200 points in all pools). 2.5 HOURS (not including the time spent sampling DNA on Dathomir and Dantooine) for an extra 30 HAM that really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things anyway. Now, Meg will never know I spent that kind of time and effort, but it all goes back to the point that I feel just as passionately about every creature I sell (well, ok, maybe I cared a little more about hers, but you get my point). I'd be willing to bet that all you bio-engineers out there who are really bio-engineers probably feel the same way. And then you see these people selling a kaadu with like 600 or 700 HAM for 15K and you just wanna scream. Hehe, maybe I get a little too into things when it comes to stuff like this, but really...

I mean, if you owned a car dealership, and saw all your potential customers going to your competitor - who knowingly sells cars that are missing the transmission and who charges more than you do - don't you think you'd be a little bit puzzled and angry? You're selling a superior product for a lower price AND you're offering a free lifetime warranty on it. It doesn't get any better than that, and yet people STILL go to the darned CH DESPITE THE FACT that I'm galloping around Theed (wearing my bio-e title, as well) yelling that I can make, sell, and train mounts. It's just annoying.

(sigh)

Probably ought to get off my soapbox...I'd say I'm thinking pretty clearly at the moment, but I downed my prescription cough medicine about 20 minutes ago and I think the codeine is starting to kick in. If I'm not making sense, sorry Sorry for the long post as well, but just thought I'd toss in my thoughts.

I just have one question.....According to the Devs all player made items are supposed to be better then looted or nateral ones....does this not apply to BE?!?!?! Granted i am just starting out (2021) but i have followed all the guides on here i can find and even my BEST creature cant compare to the nateral tamed ones example...when i make a dewback i get around 4k HAM but all the ones ive seen have a ham around 5500...what gives does it get better? will i be able to make pets better then the ones that CH can go out and tame? and if not what is the point other then being mount vendors.....just a thought plz excuse the spelling =)

The quality of the DNA you use will make a huge difference, The higher up the DNA ladder you are the better, along with the strength of the creature you sample from.

All of the dewbacks i've seen with 5500 ham are Mountain Dewbacks, if i remember right, they are level 20 pets. The dewbacks we BE's make are level 18.

Are you recycling blurrgs for your attempts? they are CL 50 and a very good source of dna. ( don't remember off hand how well they came out when I was at that lvl since didn't make many.) But if you haven't done this, try this, run around sampling junk critters ( lowbies around newbie cities) put them into blurrg dna template, get enough so you have about 4 blurrgs (saves on space too) and then sample those blurrgs till you get 5 of the highest you can get... then put them into the dewback, bet it comes out really good then.
