Im at a loss as to what cloning really does for you. Does it keep you from getting wounded when you die? I cant find any info on this accept, "you should clone often", but why? Do we lose xp when we die and we dont if we clone? I dont get it...

Yup, if you clone, you won't come back with massive wounds (or any wounds, actually). It's a darn smart thing to do if you're doing stuff in one particular region, and well worth the 1000cr if you're out fighting lots of mean things.

(and don't forget to re-clone if you move to another city for an extending period)

if your not a combat type then you really dont need to clone. You only need to clone once for every time you switch locations. Some people dont clone on purpose so that their buddy can get massive medic XP. The purpose of cloning is so that you dont have to waste time getting fixed up when you die. Hope that clears it up some for ya.

Death is a lot more... Palatable if you die closer to the Cloning center you are bound to.

I don't have a lot of details, I just started using it a couple of days ago when we were trying to do a lot of hunting and no good doctors or entertainers were around. Down time to heal and entertain yourself was getting unbearable, so I tried it. I still had some wounds after cloning, but nothing major... Nothing like the 550BF and 200 wounds I'd get after 3 deaths in an hour.

I still feel a bit like I'm cheating when I Clone, and I don't dread the re-emergence of the need for corpseruns. (I'll get together a 50-person hunting party (Pets count) rather than insure)

Keep in mind that for every wound, battle fatigue, etc that Cloning prevents and/or heals, an XP point is stolen from an entertainer, musician, or scout (Camp heals).

Cool thanks for the info.

But why clone when getting to a new planet since you are moved to closest cloning facility anyway?

If you don't care about wounds, don't clone

These days cloning in a npc City is a good idea as it is possible to get yourself trapped in a player city cloning centre and repeatedly killed if you are unlucky enough to die close to a city of thoughtless or cruel players.

If you are covert you can land youself in hot water, if you die near a cloning centre with some enemy HQ's and a scanner near it.

And for the moment it's possible that you can be /citywarned and repeatedly clone killed.

Always have an alternativeto the closest facility.

this subject is interesting....because I have recently been using the cloning system when I go hunting and for some reason I still spawn with wounds.....maybe I'm justbugged or something, but I've noticed this happening to me on a number of occasions....so I don't even bother cloning except when I'm on naboo since there is 2 imp citys with scanners near the imp base south of lake retreat (on ahazi server)......I made a mistake and took a shuttle there and when I got off the shuttle......TEF and turrets shooting at me, good thing no overt imps were around......went to an affiliate base of the imp one the next day and I was banned from using any facilities.

Cloning doesn't heal thewounds you sustained from normal combat. If you clone at a facility where you have your data pre-stored, your physical condition is exactly as it was before you were scragged. If you had wounds then, you still have wounds. You just don't get additional wounds as you would if you had not had your data stored there.

why do people not have the option to clone at our city's now w/o pre-storing data there? we have a city that is full of ents and near a high dmg place... now if they clone at our area then they will not need healing and if they dont, the wont be alowed to and thus still wont need us... is this a bug or another stupid nerf by the dev's?

*sniff* *sniff* I smell a nerf....

Like /citywarn, stolen because of the griefers. Seems like without /citywarn this would not have mattered though. Oh well.

I've had to becloned twice now since starting. What actually determins if you die & have to clone or just become incapacitated? I've been incapacitated numerous times without having to clone. How many times can you be incapacitated before you have to be cloned?

What can I expect on the next time I have to clone? Will I lose everything I have? Is there a certain number of times I can be recloned?
