Thread: Older DNA does indeed work
Many were wondering if previous DNA was able to be usable in the new system. I can confirm that they indeed do work. It appears that they have retroactively added the resist and special attack stats to older DNA so they can be used. Those with older kimogila DNA are going to smile when they see most every stat max out at 1000 and medium armor.
But, using five of these older kimogila DNA samples (all were rated at just above average) resulted in a kimogila with the following stats:
Difficulty Level: 114 (HAHA!)
Health: 20225
Action: 18430
Mind: 20674
Armor Rating: Medium
Kinetic Resist: 45
Energy Resist: 60
Blast Resist: 14
Heat Resist: 75
Cold Resist: 14
Electricity Resist: 14
Acid Resist: 100
Stun Resist: Vulnerable
Attack Speed: 1.99
Damage: 800-810
Special Attack 1: Blinding Strike
Special Attack 2: Dizzy Strike
Ranged Attack: No
I'll be experimenting with some of this older kimogila DNA (using only 1 or 2) in combination with newer post-patch collected DNA to see what can be done. Will post results as they come in.

WOW!!!
Nice work Carp....can't wait to see the results of your next experiments ![]()
If the DNA is retro are prepatch created untamable critters now tameable? IE Blurggs....I have like 30 of these in my house, lol.

I was able to actually "tame" the level 114 kimogila from inventory, fully train it and have it fight a few things. But after storing it away and attempting to re-call it I got the message "This pet has invalid stats and cannot be called". Whether this is due to using older DNA or attempting to call a pet obviously well above the taming cap of level 70, I do not know. Still testing out the older DNA.

Using 2 kimogila DNA samples (pre-patch) and 3 arachne warrior DNA samples (post patch) resulted in a kimogila with the follow stats:
Difficulty Level: 60
Health: 12615
Action: 10963
Mind: 10891
Armor Rating: Light
Kinetic Resist: 34
Energy Resist: 43
Blast Resist: Vulnerable
Heat Resist: 64
Cold Resist: 42
Electricity Resist: Vulnerable
Acid Resist: 71
Stun Resist: Vulnerable
Attack Speed: 2.07
To Hit: 0.48
Damage: 630-640
Special Attack 1: Blinding Strike
Special Attack 2: Dizzy Status
Ranged Attack: Yes
The To-Hit of the Level 114 kimogila I previously posted is 0.94. I forgot to list that.

Ahhh! I used all my DNA last night bucause of what information was available about it not being carried over to the latest patch, lol
A sampling I will go.
/D
Last two experiments (for now) listed below then I am off to collect a more varied DNA compilation so that a more in-depth experimentation process can be done. Ihave gotten a couple of messages requested where the DNA was placed in each template so I will list them as well.
This kimogila was made with 3 pre-patch kimogila DNA samples (placed in physique, prowess and aggression) and 2 post-patch kimogila DNA samples (placed in mental and psychological):
Difficulty Level: 73
Health: 17964
Action: 13871
Mind: 9958
Armor Rating: Light
Kinetic Resist: 42
Energy Resist: 60
Blast Resist: 49
Heat Resist: 72
Cold Resist: 3
Electricity Resist: Vulnerable
Acid Resist: 83
Stun Resist: Vulnerable
Attack Speed: 1.99
To Hit: 0.43
Damage: 650-660
Special Attack 1: Blinding Strike
Special Attack 2: Dizzy Strike
Ranged Attack: No
As you can see, I just missed the magical level 70 mark on this one. But this next one worked out just under the level 70 mark and is tamable and usable once fully grown. It was made with 3 pre-patch kimogila DNA samples (placed in physique, prowess and ggression),1 mountain dewback DNA sample (placed in mental) and 1 cu pa DNA sample (placed in psychological).
Difficulty Level: 69
Health: 16402
Action: 13315
Mind: 8648
Armor Rating: Light
Kinetic Resist: 42
Energy Resist: 60
Blast Resist: 42
Heat Resist: 70
Cold Resist: 1 (LOL)
Electricity Resist: Vulnerable
Acid Resist: 87
Stun Resist: Vulnerable
Attack Speed: 1.98
To Hit: 0.42
Damage: 630-640
Special Attack 1: None
Special Attack 2: Dizzy Strike
Ranged Attack: No
Personal observations: It appears that special attacks only carry over if three or more samples have the same special attack in them. Using DNA of a wide level range will unbalance some of the stats as shown in the last two examples where substandard DNA used in the mental and psychological slots resulted in a much lower mind rating. Of course, as you can see, it was necessary to use the lower level DNA samples to bring down the creature level to a point in which it is tamable. Also, you only experiment on the generic DNA template and not on the final product. There is no indicator on the experimentation screen to show creature level so you really don't know where the creature will end up until you create the prototype. Also, there is no listing showing if resource quality matters. But in case it does and just isn't listed, I used resources with OQ of 950 or more and PE of 800 or more.
My suggestion is that you try to use as close to the same level DNA as possible if you want a balanced creature when it comes to HAM. If you prefer health over any other stat then stick the biggest, highest level thing in your physique slot.
My first impressions on the new system? I really like it. It doesn't appear random at all and allows unique pets to be made. It also allows for different pets for different situations and makes the pairing of a couple pets require more finesse. This is a great boon to the bio-engineering profession.
Our day has come. Go out and enjoy it!

For some reason some pets are getting the "This pet has invalid stats and cannot be called" message. If this is related to using pre-patch DNA has yet to be determined. If anyone has any more information regarding this please continue this thread with them.
