Thread: My BE troubles =(

Until very recently I had been grinding away trying to open my FS char slot. After 19 professions I decided that I would try BE, something I had wanted to try ever since the changes that were made to the making of pets. I was thrilled when BE opened my slotand at the prospect of remaining a BE to make my own pet as I have always been a Master Creature Handler since before my grind began until the point it ended. I have been unable to drag myself away from the BE class to play a Jedi, a class I have found to be very dull and one dimentional to say the least (and no, I don't consider FS grinding time well spent after the event).

Everything began so well, I read some of the posts made by Tal-N on the making of level 10 pets and tried to emulate his success, I didnt quite manage the same results but they turned out well enough to be useful. But today I really wanted to make something of a higher level, something that would push my CH creature level to the limit. So Ispent many hours gathering DNA from Dathomir and in the end I finished with15 HQ samples from various high level mobs. All of my combines then failed to make DNA templates.. I have never been so disapointed in my life. I can accept a critical fail but 3 really seems excessive on consecutive combines for my level. Does this happen ofter to other people or was I just unlucky? I've never had this problem before today.

/pout on! =(

3 in a row is pretty unlucky - try to find a city with crafting bonus that limit the critical failures - many peeps have complained about the amount of critical failures that happen as an MBE - most I have had is 2 in a row.

I have no clue what the deal is with crit fails. I've seen several theories like it's dependent on the quality of tools and of the crafting station (I did a test of this once and did see a correllation between tool quality and crit fails), or that it is more likely to happen under laggy conditions, but I've experienced these same types of things even under more or less ideal conditions. Yesterday I had something rediculous like 4 consecutive crit failures while making stim D's in a fairly lag-free area unsing primo tools (there goes all my precious fish )

Definitely a bug.

I have taken to using a -10 crafting tool (yes, negative) with a 12 Crafting station. Hardly any crit fails and quite a few 'amazing' results.

The tool/crafting station quality calculations are shot.

(It took me 50+ High level DNA lost and a really crappy evening's crafting before I worked this out mind!)

I too have been using +14.88 tools and a +42 station, I'm sure I have some old tools and stations in a bag somewhere so I give your idea a go Gully. If this is a bug lets hope they fix it soon as there is nothing worse than loosing a whole days work.

Thank youfor your replys, I at least know it's not just me now.

I've never had failures quite that bad, i just use the crafting terminal in my droid and some old -12 crafting tools which i made myself when I had artisan skills several months ago. Critical failures did use to happen alot but it's far less common now.

I destroyed like 9 mutant Rancor DNA with Crits. I had to shut off the computer and walk away for a while.

I really do not see the necessity for crits anyway. you do not see craftsman in real life failing at their professions. Do you see building with gaping holes in the side where they had a crit? Do you see someone making a salad incorrectly and having to throw it away? Do you see a person go to takea shower and fail?

Help me out guys, I am sure this is logical.

I can understand setback failures. Professionals often have to go back and make their projects better.

in my experience it seems to happen on certain days. I have had days with crit failures 1/2 to 1/3.

Last night i made 8 pets no crit failures. I do most of my crafting with my droid. Some on a crafting station in my guild hall, and a little bit at town stations. I don't see a big difference between them.

Well there seems to be what could be called crafting cycles where on some days you get nothing but good results and on some oter days you get bad ones. I've even seen the exact same materials used in petstims give slightly different results from one week to the next so there is a factor which changes from day to day and is independant of the usual things like materials, tool quality and such.

This may or may not help you:

I find that after a critical failure, that it is "necessary" to completely close out of the entire crafting window. Almost always the second time around, there's no second critical failure. My station is a poor 12.something % but I've also seen and used 36% stations where critical failures will repeat if the entire crafting window is not closed.

I close the windows and start a second crafting tool and very rarely have had more than 2 in a row (unless I forget to close the window to begin with).

Hope this helps you too.

Maybe it's a "looping" problem in the code that only disappears after closing out the entire process????

and no on that I se lvl 15 tools and a lvl 14.52 station and I still got 2 crit failes in a row, on the other hand I may have had 7-8 in the 200 or so creatures I have made.
