I am trying to make a lvl 10 pet, and it always seem to be from 13-18 and have several resists on them. Im sure if i can get rid ofthe resist that it will drop the lvl. Ive read the FAQ several times and havent picked up on anything...are there certain slots that determine the resist and so on? Any help making a decent lvl 10 pet would be great. Thanks in advance.

Resists follow the physique algorithm which means the slots are weighted 40%, 25%, 5%, 5%, 25% in that order. Vulnerablilty is equal to -99 special resistance. Basically you take the resists for each sample you use and multiply them by those percentages according to the slot you put them in, then add up the total, if it's less than 0 then it will be vulnerable. The only exception is when you mix a template with some samples having a special protection and other samples only being effective, in that case you count the special protection as usual, but count the ones that are effective resists as 0.
If you put your vulnerable sample into the mind or psychology slot it will only be weighted 5% and there's a good chance it won't be enough to make the final result vulnerable (it will lower it some though). So best bet to get the vulnerabe is to put your vuln sample into either the physique, prowess or aggression slots (or better yet, use more than one sample with that vuln).
A very high special resist is hard to get down to vulnerable. For example, if you put a merek harvester DNA sample in the physique slot, then you CAN'T drop kinetic to vuln with only one vuln sample in a different slot, but you could if you use more than two or more vuln samples.
If you're having trouble making a CL10 pet, I suggest you try the BE favorite VD VD X X X recipe where VD is voritor dasher and X is some other low level DNA like sevorrt or huurton pup or nightspider. Experiment psychology to max and physique a few points making sure to keep hardiness below 350. Yields excellent results for a CL10 pet, and it's fairly easy to do.

Very good explanation.
TreVvy, you might also do a search. There are many recipies posted on how to make pets. Trying to figure out what makes a good pet is 99% of the fun of being a BE. Good luck and feel free to ask questions. A lot of the guys and gals will be happy to help.

Vulnerabilities in generational cloning do NOT always equal -99. As you said, any value less than 0 is a vulnerability, however the game does not interrupt it (or round down to) as -99. When doing generational sampling, you mustremember this and if you think there is a chance that a resist will come through then you will have to either: a) change the donor, b) add more generational vulnerabilites (this can be 'slot' costly) c) add a wild vulnerability.
