Thread: Should I craft or not?

Ok, with the CURB just a few weeks away, vendor full of tailor tissues already, should I even bother to craft anything?

With no info on the CURB, what tissues will be worth crafting or which will be like after the BE/Chef revamp?

What about pets? How will they change?

What is everyone else doing?

Well, I wouldnt put out any orders for 20k units of wild meat - but if you already have the resources, what else are you going to do with them? Most tailor tissue resources are only good for one schematic, so might as well convert them into tissues. The devs have said anything that needs converting will be converted, so its not like they'll get nerfed or deleted.

Skills mods will still be skill mods after the CURB and it is likely that they will still be useful post CURB. However, I would avoid crafting additives unless you have a guranteed buyer. On the Farstar trade forum, there must be close to 5 well known chefs selling off their suits - so I guess a lot of them are getting scared that food will be useless (personally I disagree). The chef in my guild even said that she is not going to craft any more 'HAM' food, just in case it's not worth it afterwards.

All I know is that most things are still selling here on Intrepid. The Curb has seemed to scare to many Chefs/Tailors off from my vendor nor the special orders. I am having trouble keeping up with the orders at the moment. Thankfully I have a full crew of hunters slaughtering creatures all over the galaxies to keep me in stock of meat.

I personally don't think there is going to much change in the Additives which are going to be used. Since the other additives outside of the Nutrients all require very specific meat which is hard to get! Come on .. Domestic Meat... never mind hard to find, get ... 40K to make a full run??? I actually had a request for it Caloric Eliminator... quoted the price for a full run .. if I could get the meat ... and I haven't heard back from the chef. I mean 85k of meat for an additive at 40-60cpu for meat. Now what chef is going to pay 6 mil for a run???

The yeast additives might come up some more but then we will be competing again with Docs... unless those change.

The Flavor additives (milk ingrient) might be the next major one... since it is easy enough to get large amounts of milk with out dying or buffs needed.

So I will keep on producing and if they change what the additives are... well they willl have to change the stock I have and I will be still ahead of the game. Besides we are still 5-6 weeks from most changes. And any stock I make will be probably be gone long before then.

Just my 2 credits...

I would recommend just "hedging your bets". Don't stockpile made products with the expecation that they will continue to be useful or increase in value (i.e. become valuable "pre-nerf" oddities), don't liquidate everything under the assumption that everything will become obsolete or devalued, and don't stop crafting, hording all your resources in hopes that all those resources will be exactly what you need post-CU to make superior products. The fact is that we (and that includes me) don't know, so may as well prepare for the unexpected. That's what I'm doing anyway. Post-CU I will have a combination of converted made-products, cash to buy new materials as necessary, and plenty of my existing materials should they still be needed.

My advice would be to stockpile res. It's unlikely that there will be an entire resource that will become undesirable to all professions - so stockpile everything you have and you may find that something that becomes useless to you will become gold dust to another profession, you know, all that 'profession interdependency' stuff the devs are always going on about.

I know I am concerned as mainly a BE chef additive dealer as to what to do. Most chefs are depleting their stocks as most foods won't be viable anymore is their understanding. My main chef buyers have completely stopped producing which in turns means no income for my additives as they are sitting on my vendor since no chef is buying. As a MBE for a long time now, I realize I will be able to the do new doc/stim thing, but so will everyone out there now grinding BE in preparation. I also make tailor tissues for one tailor and I am hoping the BE enhanced tailored clothes don't get axed.

Oh and yes, seeing tons of Chef Exp. suits on the market now. I almost went chef in November I am thankful I didn't.

Lol, I think that was about the time that I picked up Chef. Oh, well. I can always change if Chef gets nerfed, but I honestly don't think it will.
