Luckily, I had the DNA for the first of the two, but had to go out to Endor for the second. So I put this together:
MH MH
VD MDH
MDH (VHQ)
Physique: 1
Aggression: Max
Gen2:
MH MH
VD 1st
1st (VHQ)
Physique: 1
Aggression: Max
Came out to LVL35
11k/9k/9k
AR1
60% kinetic
0 to vulnerable for the rest.
590-6xx DMG and Ranged.
I thought to myself... WOOT
So I ran out to endor to get more DNA..
A few hours pass and I make it back to my lab. I make the template and pet for the first. Sample it away.
Made the template for the twin, and voila. CRIT
I was so mad I logged out by unplugging my computer.
Sometimes I wonder why I even try.

Wow, damage on that puppy is really something.

I did forget to mention that I had a failure in experimentation on the first generation. I did one point in physique just to obtain light armor. When I did 3 points in aggression, it failed. So I dumped all the remaining points to aggression. I figured it wouldn't land to lvl35 without insane damage. So on the second attempt, I didn't manage to use all my remaining experimentation points on aggression since it maxxed with 2 points remaining. I left it at that. But the crit happened so 30 minutes went down the drain. I was tired anyway.

Since the twins will end up with my guild MCH (a gift for her mastering), I want to seehow both pets would do against a nightsister (assuming, of course, I can duplicate the first pet).

I'll check tonight when I get home. I will give the twin another chance. Anyone willing to bet it'll die (crit) during the cloning process?

This is why I have 6-8 crates of Pyolian Cake. When making anything using hard to get DNA or anything higher than 1st generation, I use cake for both the template and the skin.

I've noticed that using crafting food when cloning pets will make it tougher for me to reach a desired level. It'll generally pass the level I'm attempting to reach. Like making a lvl35 will be peachy under normal conditions. Add some crafting food and it may end up lvl37. I use crafting food when making schematics for my factory runs.

Well last night I gave it another shot. Of course, I crit on the first attempt. This used all the DNA I had remaining from the night before. Arthur got an earful from me (from my frustration) and I took a little walk outside to calm down. See, when I crit and lose DNA, I feel my time is being wasted (a major pet peeve; no pun intended). If my time is being wasted, my temper tends to rise. Anyway, I thought I'd go back to Endor and search for more specimen. While there, however, I ran into my first Blood Drenched Merek King that freaked me out. Having never seen it, I've taken screenies and samples. It seems it is a lair boss... {Tangent off} So, I got enough samples and went back to my lab. First attempt yielded an inferior pet so I called upon a CH customer and gave it to her as a gift. Made a second one and it came closer, but no cigar. In both attempts, I yielded a failure or regular success in the experimention and the damage wasn't at the level I wanted. either way, they both landed at CL33. I'm going to continue with it until I have a pair of 35's with similar damage.
If I can reliably go to the merek static spawn and find harvesters there, I'd be a happy man. Unfortunately, my last few visits came up empty. Oh well, I can't have them all.

Speed is about 2.16 and to-hit is around .35 give or take a few. I'll post screenies if my guildie hasn't tamed it yet.

I can't say that I've experienced the same thing. Regardless, you seem to have crit failed a number of times while doing this. Are the crit fails worth the possible level flexibility, especially since you are low on the level you want?
