THIS IS NOT A BUG !!!!!!! THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF PET CRAFTING AND WORKING AS INTENDED.
You have always been able to sample from pet deeds, whether in your inventory or dropped on the floor of a house. This is the basis for making multi-generational pets which was they keystone of the last pet crafting process and can still be useful now to enrich certain aspects of the DNA.
You should be able to get between 0 and 10 samples from the deed before it goes 'poof' which is it's way of 'dying'.

Do you know - I keep seeing QFE around and I didn't know what it meant so I finally went and looked it up when you posted it here ... According to urbandictionary.com:
QFE = An acronym for Quoted for Emphasis, it's used to help drive a point home to someone who's fairly dimwitted. Also used when someone makes an exceedingly good point, and people want to make sure that it gets across. Usually seen used in internet forums.
So ... thank you for that

it's also a term used in aviation to denote 'field elevation'... ie: altitude (in feet) above sea level of an airfield.
imagine MY confusion when I saw QFE QFE etc... 'do they mean to say that post 'defines' the base elevation?' I eventually learned of 'Quoted For Emphasis' and have been much less confused ever since.
