Thread: CL 25 pets with decent stats

A friend of mine was looking for a pair of pets to use to grind CH. He wanted something CL25. I looked over my recipes and waded through the old posts. I found one recipe which seems to have worked moderately well but I wondered if anyone else had a 1st generation recipe which would produce a nice CL25 pet. Reasonable HAM with (perhaps) light armor and good kinetic/energy resists.

TIA

When I want to make a pet of that CL I always make it multi-generational. In my experience, a good pet for that CL is going to have light armor, about 10k health and lower action and mind, high kinetic, 150 damage or so, and energy vulnerability. Only way to achieve that is by repeatedly nerfing the damage through multi-generational sampling. If you really are intent on getting both high kinetic and high energy resists, you'll probably have to nerf the damage down much further than that (like down to 30-40 or so like non-CH tanks), I'm guessing 4 generations or more for that.

I always have miserable luck when I make multi-generational pets. Invariably there will be one iteration where I only get one or two samples and I usually lose what I'm trying to keep when that happens. Which is why I'm looking for good pets on the first pass, I seem to do okay on those.

I have yet to see a "first-pass" CL 25 with armor and the stats you are looking for. However, a recent suggestion and some experimentation this weekend has given me a very nice set of results on a second-gen pet, quite reliably.

Get 10 samples of Delerious Merek Avenger DNA. Create two templates, experimenting ONLY enough in Physique to get light armor, and make the template - you will probably only have to use 1 or 2 points in Physique.

Make first-gen pets to resample, they will average 30-32, 10K health, light armor, 45% kinetic and minimal resists for most of the rest. I suggest making 2 creatures just to assure an adequate number of samples for the second generation. If the two creatures differ significantly, use the higher of the two for the 1,2 and 5 slots if possible.

Experiment to light armor on the second generation and put ONE point into prowess, and you should have a CL 25 with high 900/low 10K health, 6k-6500 action and mind, light armor, 45% kinetic, no serious vulnerabilities, thogh the other resists will be single digit in most cases, stunning strike and a ranged attack.

If you forego the point in prowess, second gen will have high 5k in the action, and come out about CL 23 repeatably. 25 or so Delerious Merek Avenger samples and some reasonably good luck and you will have a "triplet" team that can bring effectively 80K+ health (3 pets with 9500+ health, double effectiveness for the armor 1, then roughly 45% increase due to the 45% kinetic) to a PvE battle, though they do not have the resists for PvP weaponry.

I've made a couple of "teams" this weekend of 2 gurrecks and a cu pa with these stats, which will allow for a fast attack and then to either keep the mount as a reserve pet or send it in as needed. They work well with some ranged damage backup from the CH or another groupmate, but they can make a very effective tanking force.

If you don't mind the pet having kinetic resist in the 40-50-ish range (but it still has light armor), try combinations of toxic merek battlelord, delerious merek avenger, merek death's head, and merek assassin.

I made a few CL 25-28 pets using such assorted merek DNA when I only had Sampling 3 and Experimentation 2... I couldn't sample any harvesters or BMB's to save my life then =) I still use the CL 28 gurrcat I made this way, he turned out quite nice.

That sounds doable with my luck at resampling. Thanks, I'll give it a try as soon as I run through the merek harvester dna I've got.

Actually, all you need is one sample. Think about it, the goal you are trying to achieve here is to get a dna sample for the 5th slot that has high fortitude, good resists, good specials, and extremely low damage. Once you have that one sample, you're set. If you are fortunate enough to get 3-4 or more samples like that in the process of your pet making, no reason to waste those samples in slots 1-4. Save em and make multiple pets. The only drawback is that, yes, you do run the risk of getting 0 samples either through crit fail or bad sampling luck, and you will use a lot of whatever samples you are using for slots 1-4 (I suggest merek harvester for 1-2, and something real wimpy for 3-4).

But nobody said it would be easy. The BE that puts in a little more effort is always going to make better pets

While this is definately true I had a job not long ago where the customer wanted strong poison, strong disease and ranged. I went out to swgcreatures.com to find out which ones had those attributes, went over to the FAQ and Mrrl's advice to figure out where to put what.

Two and a half days (8-10 hour days) of doing nothing else later I finally got something he was happy with. Resampling failures (not getting ANY samples) and crit failures took me to the point where it was definately No Longer Fun. (the 'why play' point for me)

Thank goodness my last trip to Endor wasn't as bad.

You can also sample Drones on Endor (level27-29)

I believe you'll end up with a StrongPoison special, as low as 20 (first Generation)depending on where you put the experimentation. No armor though.

I've a level 20, 5k ham, strong poison like this

Make a few templates using the drones and write down the final numbers before making a pet. you'll eventually see how high you can go in power/physique to keep it at 25.
