Thread: You cannot sample while prone...

This is one of my petty gripes - I mean htf are we supposed to get close enough to sample a mutant rancor without crawling.
So I was wondering what everyone else does to get around this little problem
Personally I just crawl forward while I hit the sample macro and it lets me do it, but does anyone actually stand up to sample? Or even have another way around it?

I have had success just walking towards tehm with mask scent up-if they detect me I just stand still-if your at the 64 m or so range they will not always agro you when they detect you-if not just stand there till you can re-mask scent, do so and continue to move forward.

I have found that once I am in range I can stand without being aggroed and sample standing. Or as you stated... you can just tap the movement button as you tap sample and it will allow you to sample prone.

Once you get within 15m without mask scent breaking then you can safely stand up to sample without getting aggro or mask scent breaking. My sample macro looks like this:
/stand;
/follow;
/sampleDNA

Its been a while since I really relied on maskscent but it used to work like this-
Once you pass their maskscent check, you can stand up, run around, even unmask your scent. They won't check you again for a certain ammount of time.

I just run straight at em....i have a /peacemacro constantly going and no weapon equipped......i try to get in the middle of the whole bunch..let um incap me once...when i stand they dont aggro.....then i just sample away......i just keep track of the 3 in 10 incaps.

after crawling up to them i just stand up and sample.
it also seems like mask scent isnt broken anymore, and at least for me, sampling is more successful

I have found, also, that although you cannot sample whilelaying prone, you can sample while crawling. Just make sure you are moving, and you can sample.
