Thread: Will this stay LVL 10 after taming?

I made a gurreck - 3rd or 4th generation last night.

5040/3640/3155

21%Kin

8%Elec

Vuln to resl

2.43

.24

30-40

---

Strong Disease

Ranged

I started out making the template for Lvl10 poison/disease/range but I could never get it to work properly. Close, but no cigar. OR it would post dead on, but the kinetic would drop to like 4%. Personally, I'd rather have high HAM, High Kinetic and no specials. The cpet is not doing much damage anyway. It's just there to keep the critters at a distance for the rifle .

Will the level stick?

Bio engineered pets only grow to their Difficulty Level. If it said L10 at creation, it will only grow to L10. The "taming" of Bio engineered pets refers to their training. Creature Handler pets are "tamed" from the wild and have a chance of outgrowing their level.

I tihnk he was more referring to the pet validation checks that re-evaluate a pet's level after it has been tamed

If that is the case, only SOE knows that.

yup. the problem for BEs (and CHs) is that once a creature hits the datapad, it cannot be placed on vendor again. If a non-CH bought the pet looking for a good lvl10 and it fails the validation, I can't take it back and sell it as the level 16 it bumps to (or whatever).

Do other BE's offer refunds on unique pets (no true template) that do not pass validation?

Hmm, I have a pretty large customer base and not a single one has ever told me that the pet they bought became invalid. If such a thing did occur, I would certainly offer to replace the pet but I would want the original pet back - even if it went to my datapad.

Before I became a BE, I was close friends with an Old School BE on Valcyn and she was getting very real death threats after the first pet nerf.

I think the SWG customer is a more cautious animal now. I should hope they realize that most of us would not intentionally make a creature we knew would be invalid but by the same token, I work under the assumption that they are making a purchase with no guarantee.

I will replace any pet that becomes invalid due to nerfing.

I agree. I'd rather just give the money back though. I still haven't had anyone report an invalid pet to me though.

Fantoq - I wouldn't expect to return to my Armoursmith and scream for a replacement if SOE nerfed my Ubese tonight and we all buy a great deal more Armour than we do pets and for (in most cases) a great deal more. The only guarantee my clients have is that I will bend over backwards to make them the best pet possible at that time. I wouldn't expect anything more out of any other crafter that I dealt with.

Actually, CH pets grow to the same level and stats appropriate to the critter each time. There is no variation in this. Actual wild critters may have more or less HAM than what a tamed one ends up with, but that's the only random factor. For instance, a tamed Gurreck will ALWAYS grow up to be CL50, with 11800 HAM. An adult wild Gurreck will also ALWAYS be CL50, but the HAM will be random "around" 11800.

I started with the Poison/Disease/Ranged template that is on the board, but wound up with a lvl8 with 4%kinetic. I had a BE Lvl18 with 45% Kinetic and great HAM and a CH Practice pet (lvl 4 or something with 89/89/89 ham all protection at 0 <NOT Vuln>.

First three were the lvl18, 4th was level 8, and aggression was the CH Practice pet.

I did not take notes because I did not expect great things

Sorry Ketu - I was referring to the fact that you can "tame" a baby creature and use it until it "outgrows" your Creature Handling ability level on it's way to full grown maturity. A friend of mine recently experienced this and was disappointed when he could no longer use his baby Graul as it had grown past his level of Creature Handling ability.
