Biological Engineering Guide to the Highest Quality Pets

The bellow letter is an introduction to my guide it explains what I have done and where we've gone. In no way should anyonw take anything listed personal, please view this neutrally and enjoy the indepth thurough guide following this letter. This letter begins as a response to a post about a comment I made, "I only became a BE because on my server not a single MBE knew what they were doing." If you want to skip to the guide scroll down to the next post.

Yea at the time when I was an MCH that was correct, I searched for a long time post CU to find any pets that were decent. I personally as well as many MCH's had quit because of two things, 1) CH's were and have always been a very very weak

profession this is due to both game balance and the quality of pets. 2) Lack of high quality pets on the market. Instead of quitting I decided to see if it was a lack of MBE's whom are trying or a lack of capabilities due to game balance from CU. When I became a MBE I saw just as all MBE's did and was about to give up due to the lack of what i could and could not do. Then one day while making a pet I screwed up and saw something in that accident I had never seen before. This

opened my eyes to new ideas and since then I have created many different pet types and we have been very successfull. The comment I made stating that "there wasnt any BE's that knew what the hell they were doing" was true, at the time. As

stated before this was due to the lack of BE's (not the most popular profession) and the CU wiping all past knowledge from us.

Is this comment true now? No of coarse not, but because of Ni-Tech on Kettemoor only many CH's that had respec'ed out of CH due to these 2 things I listed have respec'ed back or they have ground xp to get CH back due to the pets they have bought from me. Yes I am sure many CH's have done the same due to pets from other BE's I am not the only cause of this, however my thorn in the BE community has successfully done what i accomplished, and thats to stirr everyone up to work harder and prove me wrong.. and a few have. Since then the over all quality of pets has skyrocketed through the roof, there are more BE's now then there was just a couple months ago almost 10x over!!

The only goal I had ever was to improve the quality and activity of the BE community, and reguardless how many BE's are not pleased with because of what I have done. I have succeeded! Every BE that read my posts did one of two things, they either got irate with me and worked their asses off to out do me, or they emailed me and asked for help which had the same results. We all got alot better!! Its completely undeniable that the entire BE community has succeeded and

grown in its quality and availability, and for this I am greatful that what I have done has worked.

For the few of you that know me personally I made a statement when I started all this, this statement was that I would only do this until the overall quality of the BE community improved, be it through my help or against me. That when this day came I would retire the BE life knowing that we as CH's now have hope and a place to go. Ni-Tech will still be here and providing amazing quality wares however we will be closing our biological division and lowering our prices on our remaining stock. Please look for us with our new products such as Ship Components (all high quality reverse engineered) and much much more.

For ALL MBE's out there if you want the work please email me in game your name and availability, I would be more then happy to send customers your way to fullfill their needs. As well as for any MBE that wishes assistance please email

me in game I would be happy to help you out. I will be writing a MBE guide on what i did and how I did it soon for anyone at all to be able to follow and work from it, this guide I will post here and on the BE forums.

Its been a pleasure serving everyone both sides.

Section 1: Different types of BE's and Choosing the right field of work.

Many people whom have never dabled in the arts of biological engineering do not realize how vast it is. Not like many other professions where you make one type of product such as armor, but vastly different. Within BE you have several fields such as Bio-Clothing Enhancers, Pharmasudicals, and Pets. Choosing the right field for you should always be the first task, it is possible to do them all however that becauses a challenge that will burn most people out after a short time. Which is why I suggest choosing one and going from there.
For Bio-Clothing Enhancers or Pharmasudicals this isnt the best guide for you however many many BE's have done quite well in these fields and I am sure you will find a guide for your needs. If your looking to specialize in Pets, by all means read on and take notes.

Section 2: Grinding to Master Bio-Engineer.

There are many ways to skill up this profession, this section isnt anything more then just another example of skilling up MBE. However within this section I will list specific areas you can go to and things to do and look out for.
Lets get started! You will want to head out to the bazaar and get yourself 3 Chemical/Food tool kits with 14% skill bonus mod, also be sure to buy or order a droid such as an R2 or MSE with a Chemical/Food Crafting Station imbeded inside. Pick up a large stack of Meat and Veggies such as Herbivore Meat and Fungi these will be used in the crafting of your pets, the quality of the food makes absolutly no difference in the quality of the pet so get whats cheap and alot of it. I started with around 100,000 of both and used that for a very long time, also make sure you have an empty backpack equipped and an empty inventory before you get started.
At Novice BE you will want to head to Kashyyk and find the Ro-Roo monkeys within the Kachiro city and surrounding areas, these funny guys are CL 17 and quite easy to draw DNA from. Before you draw DNA you will want to hit Cntrl+a and click macros, now click new and find the DNA Icon, label the macro DNAHarvesting all one word or something similar. Inside the macro you will want to type the bellow lines:

/sampleDNA;
/sit;
/pause 8;
/stand;

Now click ok and place this on a hotkey bar easily accessible, this macro will allow your mind to replenish completely during each DNA sampling attempt so you never have to stop and rest. Now have fun, sample from the Ro-Roo's until your inventory is completely full both Backpack and Inventory or until you hit 0-0-2-0 in BE. Once at either full load or 0-0-2-0 BE stop and call your droid out, him being out is all you need to do with him, you sont need to recharge his batteries or anything, the only thing a droid with a crafting station does is give you as mobile crafting station. Grab a seat and open your Chemical/Food toolkits to Genetics and DNA Templates, use the DNA to craft DNA Templates, The next section will tell you what to experiment up and what to look for so if you wish you may want to skip ahead to the CL 10 section read up real fast and come back.
Once all DNA has been crafted into DNA templates craft those templates into pets, these pets should come out to CL 5-10 and could possibly sell for 5,000 to 10,000 credits each. If your in the need for money dont craft the DNA Templates into pets yet, store the DNA Templates in your inventory and travel to a major NPC city and shout out a business post about making CL 10 pets. Once your finished with either all the DNA Templates and pets and your still not 0-0-2-0 BE repeat this stage until 0-0-2-0 in BE skill boxes. If you are at 0-0-2-0 BE skill boxes please continue reading.
Grab your hiking boots its time to move! Open your map (Cntrl+V) and look for the Kowir Forest Entrance, it is close to the Kachiro City. Head there now, I recommend having an adult CL 10 or what ever you can control mount with you for you will want it once you get there. Once in Kowir Forest open your map (Cntrl+v) and look for Myrridle caverns (the name may be mispelt a little but you get the idea) head there now. Note: If you are not high CL there are alot of snakes that will aggro and probably kill you along the way, mask sent if you can and/or /burst or /gallop if on a mount through. The Myrridle Caverns is due North from where you zoned in at, almost a straight shot.
Now that you made it you will see small bugs called Uwari Bettles, welcome to your new home, get to know them. Here you will be able to DNA sample until 0-0-4-0 BE and the DNA you get you should be able to make some great CL 25-40's. Do the same for this DNA as you did for the Ro-Roo DNA by collecting full inventory then converting into DNA emplates and repeating tunil 0-0-4-0 BE.
Once you have achieved 0-0-4-0 BE skill boxes you will porobably have 1 or two boxes in other fields I recommend buying the 2nd stack first (0-4-4-0) this stack gives you Bio-Clothing Enhancers such as Confidence cloth which you will want to get supplies for and just grind your way to the Master Box. There is no "easy" way through this part other then using what gives the most xp for the cheapest resource cost.

Section 3: DNA Status Targetting.

DNA STatus Targetting is a method in which you should get into the habbit of using when making pets. Its the process of choosing specific DNA stats prior to experimentation to achieve appropriate bonuses in these stats. It is possible to make great pets without targetting however it is in my experience impossible to make the highest quality pets without targetted. DNA STatus Targetting does not involve the quality of the DNA strand your using (IE: Below Average, Average, High Quality, Etc) It simply involves the actual stats of the DNA strand itself. The most important stats a BE should be looking for on DNA is Power, Endurance, and Hardiness in that order, however that order changes according to the owner the pet will be used for. Power is the direct translation to Damage and this sometimes will be the last stat you will be looking for due to the DNA you will be using for higher CL pets since Power has a maximum cap around 600. Endurance is the direct translation of Regeneration, which is how fast the pet heals. Think of Regeneration like a Doctors Bacta Infusion, it literally works the same way. Regeneration is very important to CH's whom are not Medics of any kind. However possible to carry around a ton of pet stims, these pet stims can get annoying and costly when instead you could have a pet with very high regeneration to counter the need of pet stim usage after a fight is over. Regeneration will not completely counter damage taking in a fight so pet stims might still be necissary, however the regeneration does heal the pet in battles and in many cases will be the ending factor that causes a victory over a loss. Hardiness is the direct translation of Health and that in itself explains its level of importance.
Fortitued which I have not listed is the pet's Armor which prior to patch 19 was a very important stat, however now with patch 19 messing up BE's a BE can no longer alter the pets final Armor rating due to the fact that no matter what this stat is set at when the pet is tamed then stored and retamed this stat resets to an appropriate level for its CL. This is also true for Dexterity which is the pets Accuracy (to hit) and Defense stats, both of these two stats are the same story as the Armor stat which is no longer controllable by players it is something reset when the pet is initially tamed. These 2 stats(Hardiness and Dexterity) being removed from player controllability is classified as a "nerf" however if one looks at the glass being half full vs half empty you will see a benefit from this hinderance. Such as making pets with extremely low dexterity and fortitued which will lower the pets CL, then increase the vital stats to increase CL to the desired level you wish. When in deed for the dexterity and fortitued (defenses/accuracy, and armor) will look low but then tamed, stored, and recalled these stats will reset and now your pet will be stronger then it would had you been able to alter these stats. Yes there is silver lining in the darkest of clouds.

Section 4: Stat Effects on a Pet's CL.

Many people are confused on about what stats do and do not effect a pet's CL and how to manipulate the CL to get the results you want. This however is more of a linear algorithum that I nor anyone I know truely understand. Though we cannot sit down and look at exact numbers to know the exact CL for the pet of the DNA strand we are looking at, this takes experience knowing what stats will give you what CL. We can however understand what stats effect the CL so we might lower or increase these stats to get the end results we desire.
This is not an exact science but a guide to base off of and will help direct you to the right results.
Power (Damage) is the single largest CL altering factor in the enitre DNA string. Altering Power will directly alter the pet's CL, this is completely unavoidable.
Hardiness (Health) is the second largest CL altering factor in a pet's CL, altering this will not have as large of an impact as power will but very close.
Endurance/Dexterity (Regeneration and Defense/Accuracy) is the 3rd largest CL altering factor in a pet's CL, however the level this effects the pet's CL is significantly lower then both Power and Hardiness. You can alter this group (Prowess) much greater then you can alter Power or Hardiness and get less of a CL increase which you can use to your advantage. Currently as stated in Section 3 the Dexterity stat is not alterable/controllable by players and this is true so ignore the dexterity however it raises as you alter endurance. We all know by this point how important the endurance (regeneration) stat is.
Intelligence and Psychological Profiles seem to have very little or no alteration of CL what so ever, in hundreds of tests in CL 70 pets where the Intelligence and Psychological Profile was maxed or untouched (minimum) the CL seemed to have no impact at all. I recommend maxing these 2 fields if you have the points to do so.
Below is a very rough example on the percentage each field has a direct effect on the pet's CL. Each stat having its point for point impact on the CL in a percentage example of what to look for.

Hardiness: 98%
Endurance: 47%
Intelligence: 0%
Psychological 0%
Power: 100%

Section 5: CL 10's.

CL (Combat Level/Creature Level) pets are designed for those whom are not CH (Creature Handlers) because Non-CH's can only use pets CL 1 - 10. The best DNA I have found for CL 10's is from CL 17 Ro-Roos which can be found in the surrounding areas as well as inside the Kachiro City that you land in on Kashyyk. After you have collected alot of DNA from these monkeys you will want to call out your chemical/food crafting station droid explained in Section 2. When making the templates for the CL 10's look at the DNA you have and choose the DNA for the appropriate slots of the template based on the stats of the DNA.
1.) Look for the highest endurance stat of your DNA and place this into the Prowess Profile slot.
2.) Look for the highest power stat of your DNA and place this into the last slot (Aggression Profile).
3.) Look for the highest Hardiness stat of your DNA and place this into the Physique Profile Slot (first slot).
4.) At this low of DNA stats what you do in the Intelligence and Psychological profile slots wont have a huge impact. I recommend using the weakest DNA you have in the other 3 catagories listed, generally speaking the intelligence and psychological wont be much different in the weaker DNA strands then the better ones.
Combine and get ready to experiment, if for any reason you dont get the experimentation window its because you forgot to call your crafting station droid out. Yes you can experiment in the wild just call that droid out, it being out is all you need to do with it. Now for Experimentation you will be looking to achieve specific stats, this is quite hard if not impossible unless your a Master Bio-Engineer however you can get close. Below is a list of the target stats to achieve:

Hardiness: 320-360
Endurance: 300-450
Power: 320-401

I recommend stating off with experimenting Hardiness (Physique) and then Power (Aggression) with your last few points remaining into Endurance (Prowess). The Endurance stat is one of the most important due to the fact its directly transfered into the pet's Regeneration which will help the pet owner when its pet is healing itself, however with weak damage and low health the pet wont serve its purpose to begin with. You can sacrifice a little health for more regeneration but I do not recommend sacrificing power (damage) for its regeneration at this low of CL.

Section 6: CL 23's aka "Triplets"

The CL 23's or other wise known as "Triplets" is because if you make 1 CL 24 and 2 CL 23's it equates to CL 70, which is the maximum a Master Creature Handler can use at once time. 3 CL 23's equals CL 69 which in most cases is the equivalent to 2 CL 23's and 1 CL 24. Many CH's not MCH might wish to buy CL 20-26's and this Section will be perfect for setting you up to fill this need.
To start you will want to travel back to Kashyyk in the surrounding areas of Kachiro to the east is a Rodian Encampment, near this Rodian camp are CL 20ish Varacatyls and Varacatyl Preystalkers. You will want to DNA Harvest from the normal Varacatyl's and not the Preystalkers. Gather together as much DNA as you can before attempting to make the CL 23's so you have a larger pool of DNA to choose from however you can make these without target pooling DNA stats to DNA template slots as explained in Section 5. Below is a list of stats you will want to attempt to achieve in these pets, these CL 23's are significantly harder to acgieve the right CL due to the fact their stats fluctuate far greater then the CL 10's did.

Hardiness: 440-465
Endurance: 450-550
Power: 400-450

Intelligence Profile: Max it if you have the Experimenation points remaining.
Psychological Profile: Max it if you have the Experimenation points remaining.

The Varacatyl DNA is overall well balanced so you wont need to specifically target the stats you want in the slots you want however it is good practice to get into the habit of doing so.

Section 7: CL 35's aka "Twins".

The CL 35's or otherwise known as "Twins" is useful for Master CH's due to the fact 2 of the CL 35's equates to CL 70 which is the maximum a Master CH can use at one time. These pets are very viable for larger damage output for a Master

CH then 1 CL 70 pet is however they do not tank as well as a CL 70 pet would. Many non Master CH's may need a pet this CL to skill up with for the maximum CL they can control.
To get started you will want to find CL 38-40 creatures, I recommend heading to Kashyyk back to that Rodian camp in the Kachiro area just east of the Kachiro city itself and speak to a rodian named Kerrsec. He has a series of semi easy quests you need to complete to unlock the Etyyy Hunting grounds zone. Inside this zone is what you will want to use for CL 35's with the best quality. The animals your looking for are CL 38 Kashyyk Banthas inside the Etyyy Hunting grounds. There are many of them right outside the rodian village in this zone (Etyyy Hunting Grounds), and their DNA makes for the best CL 35's you can make with well rounded stats and no aggressive preditors in the area to attack you.
With this DNA I usually capped Power and Endurance with targetting Hardiness to stop at 550. Since this DNA is much higher then the others you've been reading about you have alot more play room on what you can alter so I will not be listing stats you will want to achieve in this DNA other then what I have already listed. Anything beyond that you can play with to achieve the best results you want.

Section 8: Enhancing, Evolving, and Hybrids oh my!

When making pets you always "Enhance" then this is the most basic of per alteration which is the process of taking DNA and experimenting it to make a pet with better stats then what you can find in the wild. The most basic of Biological Engineering sciences.
Evolving and DNA Evolution is a similar process to Enhancing with further stages of work. To evolve a pet/pet's DNA you will want to start out by making a DNA Template with the DNA you wish to start with. Once yout at the experimenation

stage experiment only in the stat(s) you want to evolve, You cannot evolve the entire DNA strand you must evolve one or two fields and de-evolve the rest to get the appropriate CL you want.
For example: You are going to use Uwari beetle DNA from Myrridle Caverns to Evolve the Endurance stat to create a CL 12 with CL 40 Regeneration. To begin you will want to use 5 strands of Uwari Beetle DNA and experiment only the Prowess Profile. Once the template is done place the template into any pet model you want, this species you choose now has nothing to do with the final outcome of the pet's species. Now name the pet something that is easily remembered as to what it is for (Evolving DNA) or something. Once the pet is complete use the pet deed you created to harvest DNA from until the pet's DNA structure collapses (deed disappears). Now make another DNA Template using the DNA you extracted from the last pet you made but replace the Prowess DNA slot with fresh Uwari Beetle DNA. Continue doing this which is called DNA spinning until you get to the point you wish.
Note: this process is very time consuming and boring, you will also fail and lose the previous generation's DNA sometimes and have to start all over to gather enough DNA for the next generation. In my experience when doing this you will want 2 or 3 of the same pet running at the same time, so if one collapses you can continue with the DNA you got and the other 1 or 2 your still working on.
Hybrids are a pet series that are evolved in one field and not de-evolved in any other fields. These pets are generally CL 56-70 and have 1 or 2 fields they excel in far greater then non Hybrid pets such as Ni-Tech's Hybrid where they had 800 regeneration instead of the 700 the non Hybrids had. This process is much more difficult to achieve the first time but once achieved the outcome is much quicker to gain then DNA Evolving. This process is also explained in Section 10

of this guide.
The process to create a Hybrid is to know what stats can reflect eachother and not refract eachother. Reflecting stats stack such as Endurance where you will use a DNA strand that has for example 950 Endurance in it. 5 of these 950 endurance DNA strands combined will reflect eachother boosting the final endurance to 1055 vs just coming out with what you put into it (950). Some stats dont do this and will refract eachother giving you the end result of what you put unto it and nothing higher such as Dexterity, where you might put in 5 DNA with 900 Dexterity and end up with 900 in Dexterity (or lower) instead of it reflecting itself and boosting it. This "Boost" is called Hybrid imprinting and can be targetted to boost/hybrid a pet you are working on. This process is extremely difficult to achieve at lower CL's if not impossible. It is by far easier to achieve the evolution in lower levels then Hybriding.

Section 9. CL 70's.

Before patch 19 creating CL 70's was significantly easier using the right DNA, however its still achievable but the DNA stats fluctuate far greater now and are much more difficult to achieve.
Getting started you will want to head to Yavin IV and either find CL 70-75 Tybis in the wild or group with someone CL 70-75, grouping with CL 80's will get you missions for Tybis to high to sample from since the highest CL a BE can sample from at Master BE is CL 75. Tybis are humble and passibe creatures and will aggress you far less often when you fail. If you gathered 2 CL 70-75 missions via grouping with someone to get CL 75 (since CL 66 is the highest a MBE can achieve period) then you will want to cycle the missions. Since you arent actually killing the Tybis in combat when you DNA Harvest them to death and then tap the lair through all 3 waves leave and go to your next mission without destroying the lair. When done with the second lair return to the first and it will be fully respawned, you can repeat this as often as you like, you can even log and come back to those two lairs.
Collect as many DNA as you can handle and then get to a safe location to craft, if you are aggressed by anything during any crafting stage the entire crafting process you were doing is terminated and you lose everything! Even if you were at the naming stage of the final pet! When making the templates you will want to target DNA pools looking for the highest Endurance stat DNA first and place that inside the Prowess slot, followed by the highest Hardiness DNA strand and place that into the Physique slot. For the Intelligence and Psychological profile slots look for the highest Endurance DNA strand and place those 2 in these 2 slots. For the Power slot you will want to look for the highest Endurance stat with specifically 555 - 569 Power, It is doable with 570 - 576 Power but this becomes extremely difficult and you will fail alot by getting CL 71+ which is completely worthless seeing max CL is 70 that MCH's can use.
When experimenting the DNA you will notice the Endurance is higher then what you place into it, this is a mini version of Hybrid imprinting mentioned in Section 8 and 10. Do not experiment a stat that is higher then what you placed into it or it will lower not raise when you attempt to do so. Doing so not only will lower the higher stat but it will increase the secondary stat which in the purpose of Endurance is Dexterity and with Hardiness is Fortitued both of which are completely out of your control since Patch 19 as mentioned in Section 4. The power you will want to experiment up to 550-565, if it hits 570 you may have lost the entire DNA template but continue with the other stats and dont experiment power any higher. Experiment Hardiness if it isnt higher then what you put into it, generally speaking this can be capped but watch how high it caps too, your looking for around 790-820. With the remaining experimentation points cap Intelligence and Psychological profile, if you have left over points after that ignore them and click done.

Section 10: CL 70 Hybrids.

CL 70 Hybrids are created from CL 75 Malkloc Bull DNA (not normal Malkloc's specifically the Bulls) Do not get missions for these even CL 75 ones, the mission Malkloc Bulls will have significantly less stats in their DNA then the wild ones. The Wild Malkloc Bulls can be found in numerous herds around and near the Village of Aurillia on Dathomir. You will need to simply scout the areas, if you find a Malkloc Bull lair and it has spawned 3 or more Bulls Waypoint the area and triple tap the lair as you harvest then leave and come back later as you wouldwith missions, these lairs will stay static until destroyed or the server comes down for its maintenance.
Getting started, you will need 2 additional bags (Backpacks) in addition to your normal equipment. Label one of these bags 950+ and one of them 950-, you can also colorize the names using the color code of forward slash (\) #FF00FF or any color combination then the name, for example \#FF00FF950+ (\ then #, not / then #). Now start harvesting, you will probably incap alot and die even more often, as you get DNA look at the endurance. Anything over 950 Endurance place into the 950+ and anything below 950 in endurance place into the 950- bag. 1 in 5 attempts at DNA harvesting will fail, and 1 in 10 successes will actually give you a 950+ the other 9 successes will be lower then 950.
Continue gathering DNA until your blue in the face and you've died more then you can count. Once your loaded head to a safe place, again if your aggressed even once at any stage you loose everything! Once in a safe place call droid and open both bags the 950+ and 950-, what your looking for at first is 948+ Endurance with the highest Hardiness you can find and place this into the Physique Slot (990-1000 is the preferable stat level). The second DNA strand you want is the highest Endurance (950+) you have with decent hardiness and place that into the Prowess Slot. Next you are looking for the highest possible Power you have preferably 590ish) and place this into the Power slot. Follow up the Intelligence and Psychological Slots with the highest Endurance followed by the highest hardiness for both slots. Combine and cross your fingers you dont get the new common "Critical Failure" on the combine and loose everything which I now get 10x more often since Patch 19. When experimenting do not touch Physique (Hardiness) nor Prowess (Endurance) but experiment Power one time and maximum of 2 times. Your looking for 470-500 Power, if you get 505 your ok anything higher go ahead and cancel/delete the entire process because the pet will be CL 72. If your at 460-500 with a preference at 590 your good, cap Intelligence and Psychological profile and click done. Now toss it into any Pet and you have a Cl 70 Hybrid! with over 800 Regeneration. (which in the pet deed is displayed as 80 due to a bug that labels its newborn regen and not adult, all pet deeds list 10% the actual stat same as newborns do).

Section 11: DNA skill Caps and work arounds.

DNA is the single most chaotic and unreliable aspect to SWG period, One thing we can rely on is the Dev team putting caps on just how good we can "accidentally" make something. Most stats have a cap so high we cant see them, however we do know that Power (damage) has a cap this cap is 600, We physicially can get higher then 600 however the pet will be unusable because when the pet is tamed it will come out, but the next time its called you owner will get a message stating that the pet has stats that are incorrect for its level, and the pet will never come out. Now you will have an irate customer and a bad name for selling bad pets that are unsuable much like those that sell CL 71-200!
On the same note not only do we have skill caps we have incorrectly displayed skill stats, for example: Regeneration, its always labeled in the pet deed as 10% its actual level, same as newborns. You will see it displayed like this:

Health regen: 80

but when tamed it will display the health regen like this:

Health regen: 80(800)

this is the newborn levels as all the stats not display #(##). At adult it will

display correctly.
