Hi, as I work my way up the profession I am trying to make more and more specialised creatures but have hit a "speedbump" when trying to make a creature planned on paper, based on faq information.
I was trying to build a creature with only kinetic resist (60%), and vulnerability to everything else using easily obtainable creatures (I know I can do this with Merek Harversters - I just wanted to check out the theory by doing it with Dantooine creatures).
Now from the faq I note the difference between special resists and normal resists. I also note that any vulnerability in that resist in any of the slots knocks out normal resists. A vulnerability diminished special resists based on the slot weighting, and a nominal value of '-99', if it turns it negative you have a vulnerability.
So for example, if you had 45% special resist energy in the physical slot no resists in any other slot butprowess where you have a vulnerability e.g.
45% Vuln
0 0
0
the resist should be 45%*40% (from the physical slot weighting) + -99%*25% (from the prowess) = 18% + (-24) = -6% = Vulnerable
This is all from the faq and it *seemed* to work.
But...
I will present on the left hand side the name of the creatures and the right hand side the kinetic/energy resists like this S30%/20% meaning in that case Special Kinetic Resist 30%, Energy resist 20% (PPW = picket plains walker, VD = voritor dasher, Bol = Bol
)
PPW PPW
VD

I was trying to build a creature with only kinetic resist (60%), and vulnerability to everything else using easily obtainable creatures (I know I can do this with Merek Harversters - I just wanted to check out the theory by doing it with Dantooine creatures).
Now from the faq I note the difference between special resists and normal resists. I also note that any vulnerability in that resist in any of the slots knocks out normal resists. A vulnerability diminishes special resists based on the slot weighting, and a nominal value of '-99', if it turns it negative you have a vulnerability.
But...
I will present on the left hand side the name of the creatures and the right hand side the kinetic/energy resists like this S30%/20% meaning in that case Special Kinetic Resist 30%, Energy resist 20% (PPW = picket plains walker, VD = voritor dasher, Bol = Bol
)
PPW PPW S40%/20% S40%/20%
VD Bol 20%/V S35%/20%
PPW S40%/20%
So with kinetic we ignore the non-special one (as their are specials) and we expect:
40*40% (physical) + 40 * 25% (prowess) + 0 (the non-special from VD is ignored) + 35*5%(psychology) + 40% * 25% (Agressive) = A total Kinetic resist (special) in the clone of 37.7. Several combines yield 38 so tick so far so good.
WIth energy we note that there are no specials and a vulnerable so we expect vulnerable (even although it appears in the 5% weighted mental slot) and tick we get vulnerable. Great we have clone 1 (c1)
Theory = actuality (so far). (Just FYI this combination also gets rid of all other resists so produces a kinetic only resist creature)
Now for clone two, the combine I wanted was going to use grassland voritor trackers (GVT) witha whopping Special 65% kinetic anda special 65% energy, they are harder to find so (as this was going to be a multi-multi generational clone) I wanted to use only one.
The theory:
GVT C1 S65%/S65% S38%/V
C1 PPW S38%/V S40%/20%
PPW S40%/20%
Okay Kinetic should be 65 * 40% +, 38 *25%, + 38*25% + 40% * 5% + 40% * 25% = 49% (rounded down) and thats what I got! Wow.
BUT
Energy should be (if the assumptions are right)
Ignore the non-specials as we have specials: 65% * 40% + -99 (the V) * 25% + -99 * 5% + 0 + 0 = -3.75, so it should be a vulnerable.
But its not its 24, which is wierd. Tried twice and twice its 24. Now 40% of 65% is 26 not 24, so its not just the GVT coming through. If you ignored the difference between special and non-special you still don't get this result.
Its all a bit wierd. I didn't have enough VD to test in place of the C1s in case second generation Vulnerables dont have a full '-99'
weight, but I doubt that's it.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going wrong in the theory?
Thanks,
Zardo/Barklaat (tempest)

Ow my head hurts too many calculations. What ever happend to the art of bunging all dna in and hoping for the best?

Laugh - it all comes from too much time at work and no internet connection!
Out of desparation I tried throwing the dna in and got a 12cl with 10k health 38% resist and strong poison, who would have figured. (498 fortitude too - I wonder what CL it would have been with light armour).
Anyway - just for the record (and as it impacts on the faq), I tried with fresh vd and instead of the clone and got a vulnerability in energy (as predicted) - so what this shows is that Vulnerability with cloned animals is not necessarily a -99 in the equation, but rather depends on just how much of the previus vulnerability was "used" in getting rid of a special resist.
Ill try and put together a formula for this later and maybe post to get the faq changed.
