Thread: Need help with Kimos

I just made MBE a couple of days ago and I just got a request for a good Kimo. Problem is, the only place I know of that spawns them is the POI (Kimo Town). The ones I saw were hatchlings (some pathetic looking ones with a 4k HAM). I've checked www.swgcreatures.com and there is no listed sitting for the higher leveled one. My questions are: Does anyone know where to find them and can a MBE sample them or are they too high of a level (I ask b/c if I remember correctly they have a HAM of 25k).

d00d u don't need the dna of the creature ure trying to make, to make the creature (if that makes sense)

u can make a kimo from nuna dna if its floats ure boat

I think you grinded BE too fast. You should, at the very least, gain a concept of how BE crafting works before you start selling, or taking orders for, your BE products.

I know that you don't need that animal's DNA. I was just wondering how close to the animal I can get using it's DNA. And I take offense to that accusation that I get MBE too fast. Unless, 3 months was too fast (I got bored and did other things for awhile). I just hated doing pets b/c there is a lack of control to it (expecially for CL). So, as a novice, I didn't take orders, I just made things for fun (my favorite thing to do is to take make a Bearded Jax out of Crimson Blurrg DNA--I hunted them on Endor to make some extra money--I like the idea of something tiny that can rip you a new one).

Aryth,

You can get very close to the animal by using it's dna. If you sample bearded jaxes and put the dna in a bearded jax skin, you'll get something close to a wild bearded jax. I don't think that you got MBE too fast. I think that you haven't studied cloning all that much. SOE certainly hasn't made it easy; read the boards more and you'll get a good sense of how everything works.

Sorry to offend you but that is the usual story. What happens all the time is: a new BE grinds out the profession in a few days, then comes here saying "I am a MBE, how do I do this". I assumed you were one of them...

Well ArthBandar, it really comes down to what you want in that Kimo, or any other creature you want to make. Just remember that the cap for level of creature you can sample is 75 (I think, because Bull Rancors are 75). If you want a HIGH HAM, HIGH LEVEL creature, then you're going to need to go after the BIG creatures out there. But if you you want something medium level, just look for the creatures with the stats you want, and sample them. Just remember sometimes to get what you want, you're going to have to experiment with mixtures of different DNA and DNA levels to get the end result you're after, and that takes quite a bit of practice. Another thing you'll probably need to do is set the expectations of your customers. Some will just say "HEY I WANT A LVL70 ALL 100% RESISTS 20K HAM KIMO... NOW!"
So, you'll need to politely (or impolitely) let them know that can't quite be done.

Hope that helps,
Izzaac

That wasn't the question that you asked. You specifically asked about finding and sampling kimos so that you could make a kimo. This exact question is one we frequently get from noobs who are making their very first creature and are looking for help since the system is so poorly documented (which is understandable). And if a master BE doesn't understand about dna sampling, doesn't understand about CL, then yea, he/she ground to MBE too fast, regardless of how many calender days have gone by. You may take offense at that if you like, but it is the undeniable truth.

I would suggest first reading the BE FAQ (short answer: you cannot sample anything over CL 75 as a master BE), then searching through the forum for thread talking about dna sampling techniquesof high level creatures, then taking a look at this thread which may give you some ideas once you understand the basics:

Cloning is indeed a learn-as-you-go process. I've been at it for a while now and I'm still feeling my way around. Liike others have said here though, read around. Especially the FAQ here (it's fairly enlightening) and just expermiment your brains out to find out what you're capable of.

What's really wrong with the game is the players

Oh, and can we get a moratorium on the word "whiner"? It's pointless and stupid to call other people whiners when you yourself are actually whining about them.
