Thread: Odd crafting effect with low resists

I have been playing with Kaadu DNA to create NCH mounts. Nothing stellar for stats, but something you can jump on and ride. I have found there is a fairly good demand for "any" mount in the RP community. The nice thing about them is they have no vulnerabilities except stun.

Here's the funny thing. I have been working on multi-generation DNA sampling to minimize certain traits and maximize others and get a reasonable HAM in a NCH mount. Kind of like selective breeding, really. What's odd is the resists. The first generation DNA reads 0's in the resists, and the final creature has resists of 1. I resample and the second generation DNA reads all 0's. The finished second generation has resists of 2's. Third generation had 3's, etc. When I mixed a first generation with second, I got all 1's on the final creature. When I mixed second and third, I ended up with all 2's. I continued this down until I had created a fifth generation with all 5's. My sampling on the last generation did not go well, so I don't have enough fifth generation DNA to create a sixth. Unfortunately it was still coming out CL11-12 :-P .

Has anybody else noticed or can confirm this?

I'm curious why you wouldn't use the Voritor/Huurton combo and just put it into a kaadu? Only a single cast and I believe they pass the level test every time.

I really don't see a tremendousdifference in multi-generational stuff unless you're working a specific attribute. But yet again, I'm no expert so maybe I'm missing something.

I was doing it for 2 reasons, mostly: Kaadu are very common outside my house and have only 1 vulnerability. And I was experimenting to get a better handle on how to make pets in general. I wasn't trying to build a Kaadu out of Kaadu. In fact, I think I have made every mount except the Kaadu.

I have been using the VD/HP combination with good results. I have had 1 fall in at CL11, and by the time I resampled him down, he ended up CL9 and fairly poor HAM (2-3k/1k/1-2k).

But for learning the ropes, Kaadu aggro on you much less than voritor and huurton.

This is what happens with effective resists. When making a creature, upon the initial combine the special resists will always be constant, but effective resists tend to be at a lower value than the average of the DNA used, down to 0. Experimenting in hardiness will increase the resists, and you can sometimes increase them to more than what the average was. Also, when you put the template into a creature, the effective resists always boost up a little more, just a few points though. I've tried to use this method to max the resists on a creature, but it seems that the higher the effective resists get, the less the template wants to use the higher resists and returns them to what the original creature was.
