what exactly does the number mean?

im currently using a +14.88 one. whats the difference between that, and a +15 one? or a +10 one?

I think I paid 1,500cr for a 15.00 tool on ahazi and 16K for a 44.86 crafting station. I did notice an improvement in amazing successes once I had both of these, moved up from 14.91 tool and 43.32 station. Not sure if it was the tools or that it coincided with the latest publish that I started getting 4-12 amazing successes per craft as opposed to 0-5 (typically). I'd say I average about 6-8 amazing success every craft now.

All gone. Nothing to see now. Bye Bye Ahazi most of you guys were cool

I purchased 4 or 5 of them right when they came out for 5k. Today I found a vendor selling them for 600 credits. Needless to say but, I purchased all of them too /shrug

Any serious crafter will gladly pay a few thousands credits for one...

Pretty much noting, I have used a 15.00 one before and then I had a -10.00 one and they worked exactly the same. My opinion is that there isn't much of an effect of them. Not yet at least.

My hunch:

Assembly Success = Assembly skill + tool effectiveness + station effectiveness + Pyollian Cake bonus + Manufacturing center bonus - complexity + random#

Experimentation success = Experimentation skill + tool effectiveness + station effectiveness + Bespin Port bonus + Research center bonus - complexity + random#

The numbers are added up (the random# probably can come out positive or negative) and looked up on some success chart:

1-5 = crit fail
6-15 = failure
16-30 = moderatefailure
31-50 = moderate success
51-65 = success
66-75 = great success
76-80 = amazing success

No clue what the actual number ranges would be, and they might even change depending on your skill boxes. But I have definitely seen better successes come up more often (especially at lower levels) when using higher quality tools, stations, Bespin Port, and research centers.

How much of a difference would really depend on the random variable. If it's something like -50 to +50, an extra +1 in a tool (everything else being the same) might not mean that much. But the cumulative effect seems to shift the odds pretty favorably.

High quality crafting tools aren't actually that hard to make. With some 960+ conductivity copper and 10 artisan experimentation points you can get a +14 tool. The +15 tools are from the "day of weird experiments" (when the experimentation change was on Live before they hotfixed it), amazing successes let you push the max experimentation percentage above what you should get with the resource quality. Still, I'd probably pay 1-2k for one.

+15 tools are also from 1000 CD resources and the normal crafting/experiment process.
