Thread: Is a Master Tailor/Master BE doable?
I just started a second account and I want to do Tailor/BE to make clothes. However if i do that I will have no points left for combat. My main character is a Master Ranger so I think i can get most of the supplies I'll need from him, but how successful will I be in gathering DNA without any combat skill?
I'm a master tailor/master be. It is a killer combo if your goal is to make the best clothing possible. There are some huge drawbacks though. Most tailors have merchant skills, I do not. Most tailors have high surveying skills, I do not. Most BE's have excellent scouting skills to get the best dna, I do not (but am building those up at the expensive of my last remaining combat). I have no CH skills, unlike most BE's, so I must grovel and beg CH's to train my pets. Also, because of the huge amount of stuff you need to store to make this combination work, you're going to likely be severely strapped for lots as you'll need at least 2 factories and several houses for storage.
Ahhh...I should have read your post better. ![]()
It is simular to tameing a creature except when you sample you are "hurting" the creature. As far as fails and getting attacked, it all depends on your level in Sampling compaired to the CL of the creature. If you are low on the tree and you go try and sample a Rancor you will fail alot and it will attack. I'm pretty sure that if you fail it is an auto agro...not positive on that. I started out sampling noob mobs around the city and once I got to Sampling 2 I went to Dant.

Thanks for the help Arthur. Lots shouldnt be a problem since my main character can hold all the houses for storage. With master tailor/BE what are you doing with the other 37 points? I was thinking of doing Scout Exploration for Maskscent and maybe the rest into medic so i can heal myself if i get attacked.
Yea, the only way this was really workable was, like you, to have a 2nd character. Plus I needed to get my combat fix in every now and again, hehe. This game isn't really all that much fun (for me) unless I can go out and blast things to smithereens every now and again.
The other 37 points? I'm still debating on that myself. For a long time I had exploration 2, plus some carbine and ranged support combat skills. But I've come to the conclusion that at my combat level I really can't kill anything anyway aside from the occasional durni, so may as well get up to exploration 4 (along with mask scent heavy modded clothing), and maybe add some engineering and/or medical and just get rid of the remaining combat skills.
