A lot of people are talking like the new patch (for BE/CG changes and other things) has gone live. I'm not seeing it anywhere when I play and I dowloaded no update. Any ideas?

Nope not yet. There was some kind of patch to the live servers this morning, but it didn't appear to be the publish.

Dev Tracker is your friend. Do not be selectively ignorant. Note the message posted yesterday titled:

"Hotfix plan for tomorrow, (10 Dec 03)"

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

Ok whatever. I was reading posts and people were talking about things like the patch already happened. I'm well aware of the hotfix.

Yep, and what you're reading are people who don't pay attention to places like the Dev Tracker, they saw a patch go in today and thought: "OH! THE PUBLISH IS HERE!!11 I NEED TO TELL EVERYONE!!1!"
