I've noticed this during resource shifts. It looks that sometimes certain species switch to the new harvestable resources before all species within the creature type switch over. That's my hypothesis .

Higher CL critters do not under any circumstances and never have meant they have higher stats for thier materials. Every planet has fixed resources and occasionally there's a glitch where you find the same animals dropping two seperate types of the same organic leading to you accumilating seperate stack of resources. If a planet has good carnivore meat then ANY animal that drops it will have the same type. Currently on Ahazi's Naboo the insect meat is very good for cloning and even tissue purposes, it'll drop from everything as low as a capper spineflap up to ahermit spiderqueen.

That's what I tried to tell him. But as I said, I haven't been able to get on to hunt for a little overa week so I couldn't verify if there was a change or not.

I haven't been able to get on much in the last week due to studying for finals so I can't personally verify this.

Anyway, a guildy was telling me that he is getting different meatsof the same type from different animals on the same planet. The higher the animal level, the higher stats on the meat. And that the neats now identify what animal it came from. Can anyone else confirm this was inserted unannounced?

On one hand I can't see why they would bother to do this. But on the other hand, now that some uses for the chef profession have been found and our cloning is getting fixed, I could see them doing something like this to force us to have to hunt more difficult creatures for better creature resources.
