Thread: Whats the deal with CL65 70 pets?

I am a Master BE and CH, and I have created several very nice CL60 - 70 pets. I even created a CL70 and 2 CL69's. Anyway, my first pet became full grown a few days ago (CL67), and now I can't call him. It says that I lack the skill to tame this creature. I am a MCH, so I should be able to call out a CL67 pet since they raised the cap to CL70 in the last big patch.

After digging around in the forums, I found some conflicting information regarding this (imagine that, ). Some believe that it is a bug and will probably get fixed soon in the next patch. Others believe that MCH Wookies CAN call CL65 - CL70 pets because of their species abilities that grant them +taming skills. The latter, I find unlikely since I have read elsewhere that the +taming that Wookies get just helps with the success rate of taming wild creatures and has nothing to do with the level of pet that they can call. I do not know any MCH Wookies very well that I could test out this theory with.

Any thoughts about this? Has any MCH, besides Wookies, been able to call any CL65 - CL70 pet?

I just hope that they fix it soon since I currently have 8 CL65+ pets growing in my datapad.

Make a couple of taming wild/viscious tissues and have tailor make you a shirt with them.

yeah, normal non wookie folk cant call pets higher than CL60 (or 65 i cant remember). Getting the taming tissues is one solution, the other is become a wookie. good luck.

Im also having a problem with a CL53 Vesp I made for myself, im currently 4434 in CH and it still says i lack the ability to tame it when i try calling it. My max pet level is 55.
Maybe this'll change once I get empathy 4 or master, but shouldnt I be able to call it now?

I believe it has to do with the skin type and the aggressiveness. Similar to how the old level 34 Graul Mauler required 3-2-0-0 to call.

Let me explain. Wookies do not get a plus to Taming. They get a +10 to taming Viscious and wild Creatures. The taming level is the same.

Why could't you call it? It was wild or viscious. In nature, if you saw that breed ot creature, it would be a red dot on your screen indication that it was aggressive. That certainly would include Rancors and Kimos, but also includes Narglatches and Kusaks.

You need to get a piece of clothing from a Tailor with Active Tranquilizer added. The hood I wear is plus 25 to taming wild and viscious creatures. Be prepared to pay though, when I have the tissues which are usually +15, I sell them for 100 to 125k each. Each tissue requires a single stack of 25 milk. Plus 25 BTW is the most you can raise this and most other stats.

When I think about it, this sounds like a bug. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but didn't the CH change make it so that you could only tame what you could call (or maybe it's been that way)? That change was made I thought to simplify things along with max level of pet, and max control levels being one and the same...ie, our max level of pet is CL70, and the max control level is CL70--no distinction was madebetween viciousand wild that I can remember. Also it doesn't appear that TAMING skill mods are suppose to have anything to do with calling a pet--just "taming" it. For example, our wild taming skill is at +90...but we know that's not a legitimate CL--instead that seems to indicate we're advance in our taming skills so that we will succeed more times than not when taming wildcreatures. However, our taming vicious skill is at +50, and seems to actually be limiting our control ability as well as taming ability...ie. we can't call a vicious over CL50 I guess, but that would also mean that a +10 Wookie bonus would only be CL60. This is why this appears to be nothing but a bug to me, and perhaps we should consult our rep on the CH board.

Note: I just tamed my Narglatch I made at CL77...of course when his CL reaches that level, I shouldn't be able to control it--but I shouldn't have been able to tame it in the first place--I have a Kimogila pre-BE-patch that can't be tamed because supposedly it's too advanced to control....hmmmmm....this seems more and more like a bug to me.

had a lvl 70 Dewback that I could call with no problem. 13k HAM Armor HIgh Kinetic, high %90 resist in almost all the other slots. Im not nor have I ever been a Wookie, and I could call this right till I dropped MCH and 4 boxes. Unless Im missing something, which is quite possible, It might be bugged and I would hold onto if for a while till they get this whole mess sorted out.

it's not a bug, it deals with the skin that you chose to make the pet with. If you choose an aggressive skin, then it impacts when you can control it, That's who wookiees are able to do it (because of their racial bonus). Advice is to use non-agressive skins (such as the dewback mentioned above) or get some extra taming clothes.

That's the problem WWJD, I keep hearing about the Wookiee bonus, but where is it? If it's in the "taming vicious" skill mod, then that should only affect your taming skill. For Example: A nonWookiee has a difficult time taming vicious creatures such as Rancors, high CL mereks, and whatnot--but, a Wookiee should be able to tame these creatures much easier. Also, looking at my skill mods shows +50 taming vicious, and +90 taming wild...if these were meant to be CL caps, as in limiting CL control also, then why bother with +90?...it doesn't apply to any creature we can control, since our cap is CL70. If the Wookiee bonus is +10 as reported a few times on this board, then that would bring their taming skills to +60/+100--that's not enough to control a CL70/vicious either if taming is the key.

There shouldn't be any affect on control ability for wild/vicious from the taming skill mods--If that's what's intended, it's not explained or illustrated on our skill tree to my knowledge. Instead, the taming skills seem to operate much like the maskscent skill--where it just shows our level of mastery.

Why do people keep saying these things.

+25 is the maximum an Item bonus can have.

You can wear multiple items to increase beyond +25 its in the patch notes.

Only armor was curbed alot.

Talk to a Tailor about this.

Only certain clothing may have certain attachments.

And some clothing requires the attachments to be factory made.

So any wise a clothing item will only grant up to +25, but there is no rule that says you cannot stack more then that on your self from other items.

So anywise, Check with your favorite Master Combat medic or Master Doctor who uses Bio-clothes and they will tell you the same thing I am.

And as for the Creatures being uncrontrollable, it might be due to the viscous level of the creature.

Which is a bug in some ways, becasue an MCH is supposed to have 70 levels in both, if you do you mathematics.

But since the system change, this implies that a wookie should have +10 to that number giving them a level of 80.
Since now taming and control are the same thing and wookies get a +10 bonus.

Anywise, it probably is a bug.

Ie. the numbers listed are incorrect on the skills somewhere.
