Thread: DNA Sampling hard data
Since I'm wrking through DNA Sampling 4 I figured I'd keep some notes on the process to see how often I agro on various CL's. And here's what I found:
82 samples -
54 successes, 21 failures, 7 incaps
Creature levels from 17-40.
Incap came on 9% of samples. Lower level creatures were twice as likely to aggro than high. This is not what I expected. Higher level creatures were more likely to die than lower. Which is probably what causes the incaps to be more frequent on lower levels.
Highest level creatures I sampled were Arachne warriors. 5 tries, 3 success, no incaps.
Sample quality was 3 below average, 18 above average, 33 average.
Anyone else able to check incap % at different levels of DNA Sampling?

I assume you are trying to sample high end creatures. Stick to the low end stuff in the beginning. It doesnt matter that you get terrible sample quality as even with good quality you cant make jack sh*t.

All I know is I just trained Novice BE about an hour ago, and I have had about an 80% fail rate, which is starting to piss me off. I don't have 10 hours a day to let my mind regen so I can keep trying...
REAL simple answer: use buffs. If you like spices, use muon gold, if food is more your style, use iceblasters.
Just last night I went to Endor with my DNA sampling 3. I found some hillside gurreks and a creature that loooked like a Jax. Thejax-like was lower level (CL25) than the gurrek. I would try 3 times and maybe get a sample on the Jax (it was non aggro), and if I succeeded, it would aggro alot. The Gurrek which was aggro would succeed on most attempts, and then kill the creature. I was getting about 200ish sample xp on the jax creature, and 400ish on the gurrek. A few times I got sloppy and had mask scent break on the gurreck, and got incapped, but by far the higher level creatures were much better for sampling.
I then proceeded to make Blurrgs out of the DNA. Blurrgs are 50ish, and they seem to yield DNA useable in gurrecks. The Blurrgs made from the jax type DNA and from say rill DNA had a much lower experimentation range than the blurrgs made from higher level DNA. I think this is pretty significant, as even though all the DNA was lower than the CL of the blurrg ( I tried directly making a gurreck, and it was gimped, so the hillside gurreck dna is <50), the higher level DNA seems to yield better intermeditate creatures.
I was able to without Muon gold to gain more sampling experience on the hillside gurrecks than I was with muon gold to sample the endless yardtrash around cities.
I am going to add this to the making a creature thread.
