If you go to http://www.swgcreatures.com/ you can do an advanced search for creatures that drop avian bone, higher the creature level the more they drop.

Simply put: "There ain't a lot of avians"

And when someone does kill an avian, chances are they will harvest the meat, even if they are stupid

A few common critters that have avian bone: Blurrgs on Endor and (I _think_) Voritors on Dant.

Also add Kamuriths on Dathomir to the list. Sometimes animals that don't drop avian meat, do drop avian bones. So, sometimes there is a bit of trial and error involved. You could also try your server auction board, and keep an eye on swgcraft to see when there is a good spawn of avian bones. On Kettemoor we have an OQ 989 Dath avian boneright now, so Ipicked up a couple K last night. If you don't have combat skills, then maybe ask some friends to huntit for you, or hire a ranger.

vortoins on dant give up mad avain bone, people usually get hide or meat from these critters. there not that hard to kill if you can get them one at a time, and watch out for the dasers they have a nice poison

For people hunting avians you're competing with the docs and CMs since they need avian meat for some of their products. I usually hunt it up myself or ask my guildmates to.

I don't recommend hunting critters that yield avian meat for avian bone. Not when you can get 50-100 units per kamurith,voritor or blurrg. Leave the nuna hunting to docs!

Stop and think about this a second... avian meat trades at 40-200cpu and is probably the most in-demand creature resource there is. Still wondering why nobody will sell you 20k avian bone at 30cpu?

See, this is the whole problem. If you try to hire a ranger to get avian bone for you, they'll beat you over the head with the fact that they could be getting 100cpu from a doctor. Then they come and here and want our support for improvements in their harvester profeciency under the guise that this will somehow help us.

Bah, just do what every other BE does, get some combat skills or an alternate toon and go kill some birds. You probably won't get 20k of it in any reasonable amount of time, but you'll get enough to make a crate of it here and there.

Perleks on Lok yield avian bone. I have about 8k of it in my storage house.
