Thread: Eggs and Milk: A Small Study
I agree, eggs are a little difficult to get. If I find good quality eggs somewhere I can usually collect about 2k of them during a shift just riding a mount (not driving) to my harvesters and back. But considering there really isn't all that much that needs eggs they probably aren't going to raise their quantities anymore then they already have.

The milking was done on Dantooine. I was able to get 2 Piket Plains Walker Lair Missions about 600m apart, and I simply went back and forth between them.
I have not milked anything since the day they gave scouts the option but I thought you could only milk a creature once. Is it based on time or can you just go a certain distance away and come back to the lair?
That's a pretty cool study, thanks for publishing those results. And I certainly agree with your conclusions.
I think the only reason why there isn't a *much* bigger stink about eggs is that the combination of holo grinders and varasian brandy has pretty much killed off the entertainer profession entirely. If it weren't for varasian brandy there would probably be a set of "hard core" types that would add it to their template just for the buffing and demand top of the line entertainer clothing the same way docs demand medical. But brandy made that unneccesary. And all the "old school" entertainers who used to enjoy the profession for the social aspects got driven out because the cantinas got taken over by the holo grinding idiots who spam and completely ruin what once was a fun part of the game. But even before the holo-grinding got out of hand, the "old school" entertainers used to say: "hey, I'm in it to socialize, why would I want to heal you faster and have you leave sooner?". So the whole thing was incredibly poorly thought out. It's a total debacle really, lol.
To me, fish is a much bigger deal than eggs. And I was totally unimpressed by the fishing changes a month or two back. I actually don't mind fishing, but geez, at least make it worth my while.

IMO the reaosn theere is little demand for eggs is that the quantities you need arent feasable to get, same with fish for pet stim D's
I've been collecting eggs for months, and being semi-serious about it, but the best Ihave managed over the course of a spawn cycle on the planets I hang out on most (Corellia, Naboo, Tatooine) is a bit over 1k of the same spawn.
I go to adventure planets not as a matter of course, but targeting specific spawns of quality resources (having a toon that is far past the need, at this point in time, to collect combat XP) and so I don't collect a lot of egg from those worlds.
I would suggest to BEs that they find master scouts and rangers who spend their time hunting on specific planets and contract with them for searching as many lairs as they can over the period of a spawn to collect the maxiumum number of eggs. Focus, if possible, on the planets currently with the best quality of egg available. Do this on a consignment basis and establish a long-term relationship with your egg collector. You'll have to make it worth their while, of course, but if they'r hunting for wooly hide anyway for some armorsmith or avian for some doc, they can check the lairs for some additional revenue.

Mission lairs reset when you go over 150m away for a short time, maybe a minute or 2. Discovered this when trying to do missions with Lyekka. It is most annoying when you are down to the last critter in the lair, and it bolts far away. If you chase it too far, the lair resets and you have to start all over.
However, it is a really nice feature when you are looking for milk and eggs! By the time you have milked one lair, the other should have reset and you can go milk it again. This also works for DNA sampling, by the way. Just make sure the lairs are more than 300m apart.
An interesting note is that the lair actually spawns new creatures each time. You can tell this because sometimes there will be a baby, but when you come back, they will all be adults. I thought last night that this would also be a great way for creature handlers to get babies to tame.

I'm afraid that you are absolutely right about this. It just isn't going to be a high priority item. That's one reason I suggested just changing the schematic. That seems like it would be fairly easy to do, but still probably about #10 zillion on the priority list.
I totally agree about the fishing, too! Maybe I'll do a small study on that, too. LOL! I really don't get how fishing is even supposed to work. I did catch a couple of fish, but my actions didn't seem to make much difference in the outcome. And the amount is even lower than the eggs. At least I thought that there might be some logic in not wanting CHs to have Pet Stim D's, since they were pretty much overpowered at one point. But since the CH nerf, I really don't think it would be that important.
I'd like to see these resource issues compiled into one point on our Top 5 Issues list. Perhaps we can all put our heads together and come up with something that would work.
