Cana bio-engineered pet be trained as a mount? That lvl. 30 Kaadu in my basement would be a sweet ride.

Yes, they can. I have an uberdewback I'm riding around now, he's a lot more useful when a critter aggroes on me than a speeder bike parked 40m away...

I have also found that my non ch mounts can be trained at cl5 in instead of cl8 (based on a cl10 pet).

Greetings,
They sure can, and I encourage my customers to go with a mount-able skin for their pets. A lot of folks still don't understand that the skin doesn't effect the stats in anyway at all, so you might as well have the added bonus of a backup ride, should your speeder get eaten or explode or some such.
