Ok so one of my alts just got novice BE and I have been playing around with sampling and have made a few kaadu. Here is my question and I read through the FAQ and couldn't find an accurate answer. The highest level creature i have sampled is a mouf from kashyyk he was level 32. How do I know what level creatures it is theoretically possible to sample from. The only thing i found on this in the FAQ stated that Novice BE could only sample up to CL 12 or something which I have already proven wrong. Also the description of DNA Harvesting says that it helps you get higher quality samples, does this mean you can sample higher CL's or does this mean the actual quality of the sample will be higher.

To add to this post I was just able to sample from steel claw, took me about 30 tries but i finally got a semple from him that is low quality

as far as any of us know, there is only ONE hard cap for sampling: CL75 at mBioE.

however, it IS common knowledge that the chance of a novice BioE sampling a CL70 creature is about nil (or less).

until you max DNA harvesting, don't think of a 'cap' to sampling level... think of 'success rate'. the 'cap', if there is one, at any given level, is not the 'sweet spot' for sampling (a combination of high success rate and decent xp). since DNA xp is independent of crafting xp, your best bet is to sample within the 'sweet spot' for xp and raise your DNA harvesting skill.

novice BioE MAY be capped at CL12... but CL13 might be possible, just very unlikely. every failed sample comes with the chance for an aggro result, and gives no xp... so the time you spend trying to find the possible cap at each level is better spent gaining xp below the possible cap to advance to the next tier of DNA sampling... at which time you can sample with more success at a higher CL.

a higher DNA harvesting skill improves the quality of the samples (on average), AND increases the CL range you can successfully sample.

Thanks for the info that helps me a lot. The reason I ask is for now I am not going to level up in BE i picked it up for base busting (I know, I know sorry). However I am interested in making some decent non ch kaadu. I am actually having a lot of fun with this as this is the first day I have really tried it out. So far the highest level i have sampled is steel claw and i think he is cl34. I can hold my own against the aggro just wanted to know if i was waisting my time trying.

Actually Lams there have been a lot of reports of people sampling higher than CL75 lately, might need to get some testing done, i'll see if i can drag myself onto chim and try it out.
