Thread: What is a good Stim A? (and other questions)

I'm still a novice BE, but someone asked if he could buy 50 Pet stims last night, but I only had 2 for my own use. This got me to thinking about how to make a little bit of cash and get some crafting XP, but I have some questions;
What constitutes a "Good" Pet stim A (all I can make at the mo)? My best yet is 237 health and action. How much should I sell them for (100's or 1000's per unit)?
I known nothing about bulk manufacture and since stims require manufactured components, would I need to bulk produce the individual components, then make the stims by hand, or can I simply add the final schematic to a factory, load up with materials and let it grind away?
If it is the former, can I have a single factory make several different components simultaneously or do I need 4 factories for each component + final product?
Are factories the only way to make crates of stims or can I buy empty crates and simply dump the stims into them?
Sorry for the noob questions.
I'm really enjoying BE so far (still only 0020), but sampling is a lot of fun and sold my first BE Kaadu last night for 20k.

This is a matter of how good the resources you find to make them, and how far up the Engineering Techniques tree you are. You should be able to get them into the near 300s strength, especially if you use advanced versions of the medic components.

This would be completely up to you. If you're a novice BE and not planning on mastering doctor, you don't need medicine crafting xp anymore, so I would use a factory to produce the BECs, LSs, and CRDMs (or their advanced versions) to save time. Until I hit Master, I always did the final stim combines myself, because you lose out on BE xp by having the factory crank them out. (You only get a small fraction of the xp you'd ordinarily gain if you made it by hand.)

If it is the former, can I have a single factory make several different components simultaneously or do I need 4 factories for each component + final product?

Factories can only make one thing at a time, so if you want to make three components simultaneously, you'll need three factories. However, schematics are interchangable, so you don't have to buy a factory for each product you make.

Are factories the only way to make crates of stims or can I buy empty crates and simply dump the stims into them?

Crates only come out of factories. Strangely enough, if you want to "split" a crate after it's production, you can divide the crate into mini-crates.

Sorry for the noob questions.

ArmAvan, I don't really think there is much market for 200 heal pet stim a's. With non-CH pets weighing in at around 1k-3k HAM these days, even those pets are going to take too long to heal with such stims. Also, it's just not practical to make stims until you can make them much better. The resource requirements for a pet stim a,are almost identical to a pet stim b, which means your profit is going to be minescule compared to someone making pet stim b's. In fact I'm not even sure you can cover your costs in mass producing stim a's at 200 heal.

To make marketable pet stims, in any kind of quantity, I think you'd probably need to be around 0-2-0-3 or so. At that point you'll have the ability to experiment on the pet stims a bit, and that is where the power of them comes from. A BE can raise the power of a pet stim by around 50-75 points per experimentation point that they have, so that right there is the key to a pet stim's power. You can bust your butt getting all the best materials and factories and all that, but it won't make a difference until you can effectively experiment on them.

My advice for making some money as a low level be: get to tissues 1 and make pet vitality packs. Unlike pet stims, the amount of money you can get for a pet vitality pack doesn't really scale with its power. It's not clear that a 30 power pet vitality pack is any better than a 15 power one, so even as a noob you can command very good prices on those. When I was a noob even 10-15 heal pet vitality packs were very good sellers.

You can often find people willing to pay a few hundred credits each for crappy BE pets to grind out CH with. Try to make a deal witha novice CH to supply him pets.
