I'm only a master artisan, with some novice smuggler skills......can I survive out there long enough to get some samples?

I'm mostly medic with some pistol skills and I live through it most of the time. Make sure you mask scent and its a good idea to purchase some mask scent clothing from your local tailor. I have a friend that goes with me usually. He guards me while I sample. I have creature handler now so if he can't guard me or he's busy I use a reptilian flier. Protection is very nice to have but you will do fine without it if you mask scent.

Make sure to store your clone data before you venture out.

Store my clone data? I assume you mean by leaving the samples I already am carrying at my house?

Well to go up the dna tree go to dant and sample non agro pikets and bols. Youll move up the tree fairly fast that way.

Not sure I understand why he would read grinding BE since he isn't chasing a Holocron.

Try crafting different animals using various combinations of DNA. The non-creature handler market is vast. The more experience you get crafting animals as a novice the more valuable you'll be when you get to master.

Make sure you go up the engineering tree while climbing the clone tree. You'll need the experiment points when making animals and tissues. It never ceases to amaze me when I see a novice with 4/4/4/0. Without those experiment points you can only make less than average products.
