Hello Everyone, A while back I posteda comment on not being able to find any mid-CL (CL15-CL40)pets. I was told that BE's did not create much of these. I could not understand this until I heard about the <10CL Uber pets and this made more sense.

Now that this bug has been fixed I was expecting more of a market for the mid-CL pets but instead I cannot find pets for sale at all. I used to know about a few vendors, but they ran out of stock and never re-stocked.

I dont understand why I never see any BE's trying to see their wares. Does your profession has another source of income? I saw a Master BE at a starport and asked if he had any pets for sale and I was told that he does not sell pets?!?!?. Just today I have seen at least 5 people looking for pets but got no response.

Obviously, I am a mid-range CH and I can tame many of my own pets but the few pets I was able to find on a vendor are much better than I can find in the wild. Why is it so hard to find BE pets?

Maybe I dont understand, but there sure seems to be a fairly large un-tapped market.

Any comments would be welcome.

Thanks!

A lot of BEs have taken pets off their vendors because they do not know how the pets are going to be nerfed. This holds especially true for non-CH pets... but the others are affected as well.

The patch came and everyone protested because most BE pets < lvl 30 could not be called at all and it did not seem to matter if you were CH or not.; the BE pets were "invalid." Then a few days later they relaxed this... because of all the protests and people not being able to call their pets.

But the fact of the matter is that it is still not known how BE pets will be nerfed... because SOE hasnot "finished"... and it's not fixed. There are more bugs in the process of creating creatures and a lot more unexplained "critical failures", and it is still possible to create what SOE might later deem invalid.

We don't know what the limits are and what the characterists are that make a pet invalid.... and that's in the process of changing.

Basically we make money selling resources (from harvesters) to merchants, hunting (for meat, hides, bones to sell), doing missions, or with one of the other dabbled professions.

There is this golden standard, AR1, 60% Kin, that you need to hit to make the perfect tank. Before the nerf, you could hit that mark and have a low CL. I got that mark down to CL19 before. Now it is rare to do that down to CL30. Most of the pets are CL40 or higher now. Resampling the clones can bring that damage down and hence lower the CL a few levels, but it hardly seems worth it, concidering you neuter the pets so much on damage just for a few CLs.

So pet making has now become frustrating and for the most part unsucessful.

Very true! I used to make a nice CL30ish animal with over 10K HAM light armor, nice resists and could do over 300 damage. Now when I make something with a similar template the animal comes out CL42.

Meplorium,I cant speak for everyone of course but I would be quite happy with the crature you are talking about. I personally dont care about damage at all. I am a Master Rifleman, I just need a good creature to tank while I fire my AOE attacks. If this creature could be at or around CL30-35 there could be a market for people like me.

If there are any BE on Starsider that can make an AR1 50% Resist with damage not very important at around CL30-35. I will pay very good.

Thanks!!

pushing the CL down to the 30-35 range would have a CH market too. there are some situations that a pair of 10kham 50%kenetic or so criters with light armor is better than 1 12k with 60-65% resists. mostly this comes down to when you may need to ocupy more monsters at a time or want 1 pet in reserve so you can adapt without pulling your first pet out of combat. now of corse there will allways be a market for the lvl 60+ kimo for the look what I got factor.

To Upgrade something implies that you are adding too, enhancing, and fixing the thing that you are upgrading. The CU does not do this, it is not adding too, enhancing, or fixing the combat system that is in place, it is replacing the innovative SWG system with the generic one used by its competitors. Be honest and stop calling it the CU, Call it the CR (combat replacement) instead

I make a lot of creatures in the 20-40 range for people. Generally though the people asking for these are CH's leveling up.The exception are the MCH's lookingfor the 23's and 35's. In either case they are looking for an exact CL and they are usually lookingfor a particular skin. A lot of BE's were dealing with this by creating a very large inventory ontheir vendor. This just became a problem for them with older pets being possibly bad and know way of easily telling whether they are bad. Another option is to keep a smaller inventory of complete pets on your person. The people who tried this didn't get as badly hurt but they have a harder time gettingthe customer exactly what they want. I tend to keep atemplates on my person and make thecustomer a pet with the template that looks right. The problem here is that we never know exactly what CL the final creature will be from the template. Its not unusual to miss the requested CL by 1 and lose the sale.In addition you still don't have things like the specific specials and resists the customer is looking for. The BEcan try to carry the DNAto fix the specials problem, but that takes up a huge amount of inventory space. (No one understands inventory management quite the way BE'sdo.A lot of us have 3 full houses, 2+ full factories,a fullbackpack, fullsafe deposit and 3 droids with 10 full inventory spaces a piece. This gets you about 800 inventory, i.e. not enough)Its a lot of work and after awhile it becomes easier to just do mostly commision pieces, throwing the extra DNA into creaturesto be used as statues or fill out a friends vendor.

I'm a rifleman too, and have some very nice pre nerf pets in the 20s with AR1 and good resists. I put up a few 'rejects' as it were on my vendor last night that are by far better than anything that can be made now. The problem with the 30-35 stuff is that you need it to be 3rd gen and one crit fail or bad sampling and it is all over, start again. It is just way too much work. I guess if I could sale them for a mil each maybe, but they just aren't that good. Guess I'll make some good pet stims, get my favorite tailor fully stocked with tissues and move on. I got myself a great set of pets, so I am happy.
