I have to blow off some steam here, as a Master BE I have the choice of making a lev 5 pet with 300 ham and 30 damage or a lev 12 pet with 1k+ ham and 90 damage.

Well I just wasted another night of gaming trying to make a friend a lev 10 kaadu, I made 15 lev 12 kaadu, 3 13s and 1 14, and ONE lev 10 which came out with 700 ham and 80 damage, worse then what you can get from turning in a tamed kaadu.

The experimentation scale is just fine for working on pets above lev 20 but it is impossible to use for pets below lev 15. One experimentation point changes the pet im working on from a level 5 to a lev 12, this is not what I call a working system.

If we had 1 scrap of documentation on how level is determined, or how the system was supposed to work maby I could figure out a way not to have to experiment to get the stat I want, but the current system requires that I experiment of have only level 10 pets to sell with 300 hams.

I also would like to mention that THERE ARE NO BULL RANCOR SPAWNS!!!!!!! Three hours of searching rancor nests should result in finding atleast 1 nest of bull rancors. I found every other type of rancor in the game and not 1 single bull rancor. Maby just Maby 1 in a Million is a little too rare DEVS!

CL I have found is based on several things.. I have worked hard in getting this down and will not give away all my information but I can tell you thatthere are several things to remember.

#1) Armor will add another 10 CL to the creature by default

#2) Resists have NOTHING to do with CL

#3) HAM has a small influence on the CL

#4) Speed/Damage/To Hit has a ton to do with the CL

#5) Depending on the body shell you place it in can ADD default CL to a creature as well as add agression to the creature makeing it +10 CL to it's call base.

If you want to make a good hitting creature you can almost forget getting it NON-CH.. If you want a tank that can be done..

Just my 2 cents.

Hmmmmm... So in fact to make High HAM yet lower CL, you put good critters (simply put) in Physique & Prowess and gnorts in Mental, Psychology and Agressiveness ?

(I'm just a Novice okay and I tried to figure some of the things myself !)

I dont see anyone making lev 10 pets that compete with your generic lev 10 pets.

I agree, I am very frustrated on these CL 10 pets. I am not looking to make a CL 10 that does fine on dath.. I just want to make one that is at least comparable to a Carrion spat that we used to have and don't seem to be able to. This is nuts.

I keep reading posts that claim that if you do this or do that... but none of it works. I don't know why people post suff that doesn't work. They certainly don't present it as a theory.

I'm hoping that you all realize that the whole Level 10 non-ch pet issue isn't settled in the eye of SOE. We are in mid-flux of balance of this profession. It could be a good possibility that the current pets you are making will end up on the pile of the previous influx of unusable non-ch pets.

Bull Rancors spawn just as frequently as every other type in the Rancor Plains which are that huge section of land west from the Sarlacc. You can walk around here and quite literally see every single species of Rancor within an hour including the terrifying Enraged Bull Rancor. If you want a really reliable place to find Bull Rancors head to the Nightsister Stronghold, there's a cave there which contains all kinds of Nightsister Rancor including a Nightsister Bull rancor right inside the main entrance.

As for making CL10 pets, yes it's tricky. You can't gradually squeeze stats up point by point and often end up going over. Typically you wouldn't expect lower end clones to be harder to produce than higher level ones especially since masters gain more bonuses per experimentation points. Think of it this way though, it could be intentional.. we've often said it's unfair for novices and non-masters to lose out on the pet market because masters can produce everything. A novice does however gain far less bonuses to stats per point of experimentation meaning they can produce non-ch pets with so much more ease. This for me seems very very fair as it means they have thier chunk of the market while us masters deal with the opposite end of the spectrum. I'd personally fight anything which made it possible for a master to easily produce lower end clones when I think into it more, I want everyone to enjoy the profession and make money from it so I say give the non-ch market to the novices.

Finally as for what determines the CL, at the moment we KNOW full well that resistances and damage per second are the dominent things. One thing I'm starting to see now though is that the HAM is beginning to have alot more significance and I personally susspect there could have been a minor hotfix gone in to throw more weight behind the HAMs contribution to the final CL.

Ultimately though what we REALLY need here is a realtime indicator for the CL rating or a means of also being able to lower stats rather than just increasing it. Would it be so hard for Keldarin to add a button to our experimentation panal which you toggle off and on meaning that experiment points can either add or subtract from the pools?

I agree BIG time with this. We should be able to go both ways on a exp. pt.

We need a bit more control than this, as for the low level creatures, the step size is simply too large. It won't help me to be able to do a negative experimentation if it just means bouncing between 40 and 100 hardiness.

What I would like to see is an experimentation control that will basically suppress on all 5 stats at 1/5th of what a full experimentation point would do. I don't really care if this has a high degree of complexity (20% difficulty, like experimenting on all 5 stats at once does).

But I agree wholeheartedly with the proposal to have the current CL displayed when doing template experimentation. I wouldn't even care (much) if the final creature combine resulted in an adjustement of this by 1 or 2 levels if the combine goes less than perfectly.

You can get missions for Bull rancors, just ask a hunting group if you can group up to get some sample missions and disband.

I posted a thread elsewhere about my experiments, 50+% kinetic special protection on a CL7 pet. Unfortunately I had a 700 dependabiity stat that I believe was pushing CL up in my dne strains, so I couldn't get reasonable HAM on them.

Will have to start over again burn another 5-6 generations and toss out anything that gets that wild dependability score.

I now know it is possible to make a CL10 with 60% kinetic special protection, the only question is can it be done at more than 600 HAM, and would it be nerfed in the next publish with all the 8k ham uber pets even if HAM was only 1-2k.
