Thread: Can't get Special#2 to stick...

I have a question for the learned masses here. I've been trying for a few days to make a pet for a customer which has Intimmidate on it, is CL60 or higher, 60% kinetic resist and has 500-600 dmg. I can't make intimmidate to stick, though. I am using Singing Mountain Clan Rancor DNA in the Psychology slot and a myriad of other things in the Aggression slot. The only time I ever got Intimmidate (which is a special 2 attack for the SMCR) to carry over into the template is when I put the SMCR dna in the aggression slot. While not initially a problem, I suppose, the pet has around 54 kinetic resist and only does around 400 damage.

The other problem is that I can't seem to get 2nd generational samples from my own stuff over level 60. I guess I should ask this first, though. When I make a pet and try to do a 2nd gen sample, should I take it out of my inventory and do the sample with the pet as furniture? I essentially wasted 3 level 60-64 pets sampling because I failed all 3 times and the pet disappeared form my inventory apon failure. Is this just a run of horrendous luck?

Also, since I've been working on this for a few days, I have tried everything I can think of to get intimmidate to stick from the Psychology slot. Am I doing this backwards or something? I'm pretty sure that Aggression is supposed to handle attack 1 and Psych is supposed to do attack 2. Also, dna quality doesn't matter. I have had both slots with VHQ dna and I have also tried every combination down to AA in Aggression and VHQ in Psych and the special will not stick. I'm getting ready to beat my computer with a stick here, so any suggestions, other than to tell the guy to deal with it would be greatly appreciated.

Did you used everytime the sameDNA for all other slots?

Like VD VD VD CS VD? (VD=Voritor Dasher, CS=Crystal Snake?

It is possible that the VD DNA overrules the psychologic slot.

Try to mix different DNA, or use a DNA with only one/bugged special (i.e. Area Poison)

Hello,

Ihave experienced that both specials tend to come from the agression slot.

Sometimes with a DNA sample in the agression slot which quality is lower than the DNA sample from the psychology slot, either one or even both specials from the psychology slot may stick.

What i would try to do is use DNA in the agression slot that has a second special which will not carry over for sure like force special or area attacks, but even then the special from the psychology slot wont stick, but it tends to.

Examples would be Queen Merek Harvester DNA in the agression slot if you dont care about the energy resist on your final template, otherwise try nightsister rancor DNA, but its almost like SMCR DNA...

Maybe swgcreatures can help you find some other DNA that has a non-sticking special in the second slot.

On the other question ill have to pass, since i have not made any creature higher then 50...

But all pets i have made so far were samplabe, so i guess its just some really bad luck.

Greetings and happy travels

For me so far i have been able to get both specials to stick in for one and two and sometime's ranged would pop in as well . I would place average qty or better dna sample's into slots psychological and aggression . In those slots i would use the dna using the same attacks found on the dna for example (dizzy strike, strong poison ) . Then at the creation part where my pet is done , I would end up with special 1 dizzy strike special 2 strong poison and ranged would be there for the most part.

Use a lower quality DNA in the agression slot, and you can get it, it's not 100%...

I wanted Blind and Intimidate on a decent pet so I did this...

MH(VHQ) Merek Harvester

MR(VHQ) Mutant Rancor

MCC(VHQ) Merek Cavern Creeper

MCC(VHQ) Merek Cavern Creeper

MR(HQ) or (AA) Mutant Rancor

I get it better than 50% If your agression Out Ranks or equals the Quality of the mind and psych you will never get those to stick over, at least not consistantly. (Disclaimer incase of fluke or other bug that doesn't effedt me like the pet cl non-sense)

Besidesthis is a good way to use up your AA DNA.

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

So basically, the answer is keep trying. I have been using AA in the aggression and VHQ in the psychology, but the aggression is always comming through as both specials. I had one come through in 5 attempts with the same DNA and, of course, when experimenting on the template, I got a failure on the physical and on the aggression and essentially lost 5 points. I have terrible luck...The creature came out at level 52 and did not meet my customer's specs. Guess it's back to Dathomir and Endor for more samples. Oh, and thanks for the suggestion of using something in aggression where the special can't carry over. Stupid me never thought of that...

Oh, has anyone ever experienced the same problems that I did with having difficulty sampling you own pets over level 60? Does it seem to work better if you take the pets out of your inventory before you sample them, or does that not matter?

I also put what I want in mind too, increases chances... that's what I was showing in my example.

I have a problem sampling any of my pets, I don't seem to get samples I only killed 3 and decided it wasen;t worth it, so maybe I would have better luck, it's not worth it, I do ok with 1st gens.

Sampling your high level pet is just as risky as sampling a high level creature. The only difference is the clone can't agro, so your chances of killing it is higher. Where that clone is doesn't matter.

I've found the same - slot5 controls both specials when its quality outranks slot 3 and 4, and likewise, if slot 3 and 4 outrank slot 5, you'll get the special1 from slot 3 and special2 from slot 4 usually to carry over. Thats what I've found, anyway, its worked well for me =)

Another option is to find the special you want on a creature you can put in the Aggression slot.

For example, to get stun/intimidate I put a VHQ rancor in Aggression and it almost always sticks for both. For cripple/dizzy I use VHQ rhoa kwi guardians or pack leaders. That way it doesn't matter what you put in Psychology.
